Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

Post » Fri Aug 06, 2010 6:13 pm

Ok so I've never played this game, and I haven't heard much positive news about it, so I'd like to ask you guys exactly what this game is all about. I've checked the wiki for the story etc, so I know all about that (it didn't seem too bad). So what was people's problem generally?

Also if anyone enjoyed this game, let me know what you enjoyed about it. I tried looking online for quotes and videos (the trailer on youtube was pretty dire I must say) but I can't find anything in that sense.

Would I be wasting my money if I bought it? I'm a huge fan of the original Fallouts, including Tactics (fantastic opening scene), but I don't want this game in my collection if it's just an 'insult to the franchise'.

Thanks in advance. :)

Van Buren was canceled in favor of it.

Well, that and the fact that it more-or-less tossed out all attempts of trying to fit in with existing canon.

It's kinda like if the latest Terminator Movie features a terminator... and happy pink bunnies everywhere. And the Terminator is trying to save the happy pink bunnies.

It's one thing to aim at canon and miss it; it's something else entrierly when Interplay says that they weren't considering it canon... while they were still making it.

...oh my god I have never laughed so hard at a trailer in my life. And for all the wrong reasons.

Oh that was good comedy. Sometimes I wonder how developers feel working on stuff that's obviously garbage. *remembers old jobs* Uh..never mind.

Why is it that I want to play the game more after seeing that trailer? It looks like utter ass...but hilarious at that.

I wonder if EA's marketing team did the FOBOS trailer before getting hired to work on Dragon Age.

Nope, not a console player. Doesn't look that interesting to me anyway, I've got lots of generic shooters laying about anyway. As for Dragon Age, yeah I dunno what the hell is up with those trailers, I guess they're amping up for the T&A and blood demographic.

Why did Interplay make this game and call it Fallout if it wasn't supposed to be considered canon?

They had a designer who pretty much decided that he couldn't be bothered to read the Fallout bibles and learn the history of the previous two (Chuck Cuevas.) Interplay released this beer-coaster game because they figured a Fallout console game that played like the moderately successful Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance would be more profitable than a true sequel.

If you've never played the tech demo, I'd recommend it for a nice way to kill 10 minutes.

Nah, there are still some competent people in Biowear who have years of experiences. Blame the big greedy EA for this :goodjob:
(unlike the team behind BOS, duh)

I played it. Imagine worst possible rip-off of first Diablo with god awful everything like graphics, controls and everything else, but with some relation to Fallout franchise. Don't ever play it even if someone giving you money to play it.

Ahaha wow. Well if the game itself makes me cringe anywhere near as much as the trailer does, I think I'll give it a miss.

The only way you could possibly get anything out of it is if you have 2 controllers, a friend willing to sacrifice his/her precious time and some moonshine to keep the focus away from the game.

Hehe I love that armor. (In the bad way of the meaning "love" that is.)

Seems like a suit someone would wear for motorbike competition. :P

Don't you see the word "Power" in that Armor? :P

Fun fact, when Fallout : BOS got released, the Interplay Forums got swarmed by fans of the older Fallouts who were, obviously, very angry with the path Interplay took with BOS, also called P.O.S ..
. In fact, it was so much a mess on their forums that Interplay closed the sub-forum for Brotherhood of Steel. ;)

yea i like it but there some people who hate this version of fallout game since it was on the ps2 i think it might been on the pc but im not sure but rember this is a older game from back in 2004.but you can play it single player or bring the game over or your friend to your place and play it on your old PS2 system. or if you have a ps 3 that can play older ps games. but i thought it was fun but can be bit boring if you didnt like the style of RPG from the balder's gate games the ones on the console sytems. becouse the pc ones were alot difrent.
