Fallout 4 "Console Commands"

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:32 pm

I hope Bethesda considers adding the use of Console Commands to the console version of their upcoming game Fallout 4. I play on both P.C. and console and I have moments on P.C. where if I didn't have Console Commands I would have been absolutely screwed so I hope that they consider this.

Thanks,

I agree completely, but how will we activate them?

Might be an cheat menu for the most common ones, TCL and advance current quest one step is nice then stuck.

Using an keyboard might be relevant if you do mod testing / debuging who is the real reason for the console.

Note that you could make an mod who does much as the cheat menu.

With access to mods, I would be positive, someone will make an unofficial patch.

A dev already stated that this won't be happening.

They would have to go in and remove console commands from the game to keep it from happening, given that there's mods that use console commands to work.

That is only accurate in the sense that clicking a shortcut on your desktop is like opening the windows command prompt. You don't need access to the command line software to make things work. I am too lazy to go dig up the source, but the dev said rather strait out (I believe it was on Twitter) that consoles wouldn't be getting access to the console.

You can't acces them in current tes / fallout on 360 or ps now. My point however is that you can access many of the console commands now via mod items.

No kidding. But that isn't what op is asking for. He wants direct access to the console itself, which isn't going to happen.

I hope so. Without an editor Bethesda games are pretty damn aggravating.

Another method would be a menu tab option. It would be easier with a keyboard obviously (ps4 can use keyboard) to input commands but you could possibly utilize the built in digital key available to both consoles.

As I said previously, I am too lazy to go dig it up. I believe it was said on Twitter though.

Glah. I'll try to find it. Thanks for the heads up though. It is one of those things that could change when I buy the game.

Console commands are there for development. Since no devs develop games on consoles its very unlikely.

no need to, console commands requiring a keyboard pretty much makes them remove themselves for consoles.

and you shouldn't build your hopes too high for a mod changing this, console commands are just debug tools for the game engine and not accessible from the scripting engine (which is an independent system from the game engine)

what COULD be done, mod wise, is emulate console commands using the scripting engine, just not very likely it'd happen in a complete way, since console commands list totals a couple hundred (most of which are totally useless for players anyway)

so your best bet for console-console might be, see you get a kb to operate on that thing :-)

You should wait for the Steam holiday sale at a minimum. Personally, I am waiting for the next summer sale. Its going to take that long to get the majority of the bugs worked out of various modding tools, F4SE, glaring problems fixed etc. Not to mention one of the dlc should be out by then. I mean we likely won't even get the CK/Geck until March/April. If there is one thing that Bethesda games do is age pretty decently. Which is much of the reason why The Glorious PC Master Race, with our Lord and Savior GabeN are so superior. :)

Pretty sure you can connect a USB keyboard to any modern console....how the game reads the device is another story.
