Fallout 4 PC - Console Port? Or Did we get Love?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:59 am

Title says it all.

I hope to not get flamed for this, however, since the 'next-gen' consoles made their appearance, most games that are on all 3 systems - seem to take the lowest denominator and keep it visually the same across all platforms.

Is this going to be the case for Fallout 4 as well?

I can't find any info on this, as I'm sure they won't come out and say it. If anyone has any information leading one way or another, feel free to leave a comment!

thanks!

You realize "ports" are really going to be a thing of the past. Consoles are basically low end PCs at this point.

The game is made for three platforms two of which are consoles. This means the UI WILL be optimized for consoles. It is going to happen and you might as well accept that now and wait for a mod to change it. anything else is just peeing into the wind.

The target is cod kids, op. Of course they are going to develop it for console and port ot pc. What do you expect from a gimmicky and tacky game like this.

X1 and PS4 are basically the same as a PC Hardware speaking. Games are geared to work on them since you know what the Hardware and software is going to be like. PC will still have a lot more options in regards to texture and other settings so it will look a lot better on PC's that have better hardware.

Also the PC will be getting more options with mods. X1 and possibly PS4 will have mods but those mods will likely be limited.

On PC you will have options for low, medium, high and possibly ultra high. Consoles usually do not get those options.

Uh I expect love from Bethesda. All I am asking for is confirmation on it being a port :D

I understand the UI is console based, but that doesn't mean the game itself is going to be exact same as Consoles.

For instance, I game at 4k. Will we actually have 4k textures? or will the visual quality of the game be across the board the same, because if not... consoles will be upset that there game isn't the same as PCs.

I also realize that consoles are basically 'low' end machines - and I really mean LOW end machines. But thats the great thing about PCs, you can make a game work on a machine from 5 years ago and you can make that same game look AMAZING on a brand new PC.

but when they build for the XONE and that is the basis for all other systems. It kills the performance / features of a high end PC.

I understand this, this was the same for Witcher 3... however, PC Ultra was pretty close to XONE / PS4 quality. :P

I guess you did not play W3 on the X1. Since it is roughly capped at 30 frames or it might be now since I have not played in weeks. The game is also for the most part at 900p. I have not played on the PC but I do not think the graphics are likely closer to medium on the PC from what I have seen on screenshots.

I've seen plenty of video of xone and ps4 , yes computers can run at 60fps and 4k (which is what I run at on Witcher 3) the question here is.. If it's a port, it performs poorer on a PC than if the game it's self is built for a PC opposed to being built for the next gen systems and just brought over to the PC.

Console vs PC-Ultra witcher3 only look close if you use the silly and obviously biased youtube comparisons, which are compressed.

Also I don't think its a port on PC. The game will probably run great on all systems though, as it doesn't look very next gen compared to other open worlds games shown.

Ok - back to Topic, do we have any information on it being a port or actually being built for xone/ps4 and then built for PC. (i'm guessing it's a resounding No.) - just being curious.

OP, with Beth games, I don't mind if FO4 pc is ported because the hundreds of mods that will be made should satisfy all pc gamers. I'm more worry about the gameplay and performance. It seems that Beth finally did listened to the fans. FO4 has a lot of features that modders did for FO3/FNV. The features they have introduced has depth with a lot of possibilities. I like what I'm seeing unlike what they did with Skyrim. With Skyrim, they eliminated things that fans loved while in FO4 it seems they have added more and refined it as well.

Performance is worse mostly as it has to go to driver to access the GPU, as all run on x86 but on different OS it would not be significantly issues about CPU performance.

main issue is how bad the UI is.

Well here's a situation. Witcher 3. has Physx in it, however, it's said to be Nvidia Physx, BUT because it was made for consoles, the Physx is only controlled by the CPU - you aren't able to run another GPU to run Physx, because Consoles only have 1. There are cut backs / loss of features that companies make to build on the lowest denominator.

And this I am excited for. However, Mods won't be out for QUITE awhile. Just like W3 they still have yet to release the tool kit. But yes, I am worried about gameplay / performance, which comes back to what they build the game for also.

TBH, I was just hoping for some kinda statement from Bethesda about how they built FO4 - If they built it like skyrim, i'm not worried. I know they are using the same engine, but upgraded...

Well, there are a lot of mods already for TW3 and it's harder to mod than Beth games. With Beth, one can literally upgrade the textures with HD ones on the first day. As for Beth not stating how they built FO4 that isn't much of a deal for me. Heck, considering how "unprofessionally" silent they have been during the development of FO4, I'm glad they showed us something - and they did show us a lot and very cool features. The game will be released on Nov 10 so, who knows, we might see more Todd interviews explaining how they have developed FO4.

Frankly, I don't want a HD texture pack from Beth because, if I recall, when the official Skyrim HD texture pack came out, it was obsolete because the modders had created by then a better and more comprehensive HD texture pack.

Like their games in the past from oblivion up, it will be made for Xbox as the base and then ported to PC and ps4. Texture wise will be roughly the same because they will make it so that the Xbox will have the same experience as the PC and ps4.
The game will NOT be made with PC first in mind but like in the past, it will be designed for the Xbox first.

Why the hate? The new Features are derived from some of the most popular mods for Fallout. Don't like the new Workshop mechanics? Don't use them!
