Exactly the same issue here, right east of C.I.T. ruins on the Hunter/Hunted mission.
My game is also crashing to desktop in this area.
So I can't progress the BoS Vertibird-Quest the Main-Quest *+ 3 other Quests.
It's my first Fallout and I really love this game, but this bug kinda svcks and keeps me away from playing the game right now
edit*
Since I've seen this popping up quite a few times on this forum, I have a lot of hope that Beth will be able to adress and fix this. I dont think there is a workaround other than waiting for a patch. (If anyone finds something tho, I'd appreciate ofcourse ).
Same happens to me after ~26hours of playtime when i try to enter anything east of Cambridge Police Station or west of BADTFL Regional Office, black screen and crash to desktop.
My System Core I7-2600k, 16gig RAM, GTX 970@1440p, Windows 10.
hoping for a soon patch
wow i actually found other pple that have this [censored] bug... I think its the BoS missions that are bugged. I amnaged to go to manor marker at max 60 units . No more, game crashes
I'm not on the BoS quest yet, so I dont think so.
Gamebreaking bug. Mods please reply, this is a HUGE area of the map that is inaccessible and I have multiple quests with objectives that require progression through the affected area. Cannot continue playing my current save file in this state.
ayyy we made it to page 2 which is great because it has a better chance of being fixed and terrible because all you having it.
anyway, if you're on PC there is two workarounds on page 1 you can try.
Well that is a way to get ahead in the mainstory indeed. It still keeps us from exploring the area at all though, doesn't it? Or does the crash disappear if you go there without the Hunter/Hunted or BoS quest?
Yeah it does skip the area but it's the only ways I've found. It's more of a workaround rather then a solution and is more for people that can hold off going there for a while until its fixed but want to move on. if I hear of a way to get Hunter/Hunted done or any other quest then I'll update it. Sorry bud.
Hello everyone!
This post contains spoilers and quest names.
So, I had this bug too. I cannot say when it came into effect for me, because I have no clue how far I was in the main quest, but I guess act two had been activated. Needlessly to say, I was on Shadows of Steel quest.
I made a new game, ran straight to the BoS and started doing quests for them, doing the Tech Finding missions untill I was told to go to Monsignor Plaza, which is in the touble area. I was able to do the quest fine.
Current mainstory quest: Jewel of the Commenwealth step two - find information on Shaun.
Edit 1: Doing the main-quest also stated Road to Freedom which causes no problem for me.
At this point, I am able to run around in the area like a mad-man, which is, you know.. fun.
I will now do a Main-quest step-by-step to see if the bug reappears, and if so at which step.
Edit 2: Currently on Getting a Clue and Road to Freedom step 2. Still able to access the area. Valentine has been freed at this step.
Edit 3: Started Reunions. Area still works. If you are wondering, I am fast traveling to the C.I.T and turning left past the east wing, then down the stairs a few meters ahead. This is normaly the crash area for me.
Edit 4: Reunions step 3, find a way into Fort Hagen. Area still works.
Edit 5: Act 2 has begun, Shadow of Steel quest available. Still able to walk into the area. Will now take the Vertibird.
Edit 6: Onboard the Prydwen without any crashes.
Cheers for the update dude, everybody I've asked says it comes into effect at some point in the story (we think near rescuing Valentine or killing a certain somebody after getting Valentine) so make sure you save around then
I am much looking forward to running around like a mad man again hahaa
Godspeed. i hope this helps bethesda fix it. i really hope they can patch it soon and that we wont all have to restart our games because that would obviously svck.
NOW IF ONLY SOMEBODY FROM BETHESDA COULD SHOW UP TO LET US KNOWTHAT THEY ARE AWARE OF AND FIXING THE PROBLEM, thatd be great.
THAT WOULD BE GREAT, LIKE EVEN A "HAY, WE GET IT BRUH." IS LITERALLY ALL WE NEED
approximately £273,722.50 in cash would be even better
I am quoting myself because I was vauge with what I did.
I stated a new game, after reading it might be the save that was somehow bugged or corrupted.
I was, in this new play-through, able to make it Onboard the Prydwen.
So here goes, it might help some of you:
Rushed to Museum of Freedom and saved the Settlers. Then helped Sturges build up Sanctuary. (Allthough in hindsight, it was a mistake)
Started the first Minute Man quest, did not complete it.
I completed Order Up and Pull the Plug because I came across them. (Allthough in hindsight, it was a mistake)
Ran to the Brotherhood of Steel and helped them out. Complete all quests with Danse, one with Knight Rhys and several with Scribe Haylen, untill she sent me to Monsignor Plaza. (I suspect I could have run there, and the result would have been the same. I was thinking, that if the area had been visited before Shadow of Steel there could be some data generated before the flight).
I then switched onto the Main Quest and completed it up to the beginning of Act 2 - where upon Shadow of Steel becomes available. Ran straight to the vertibird and flew straight to the Prydwen without crashes.
I have the same character stats, same perks but diffrent name. I doubt this makes any diffrence.
Now comes the question: What happens when I begin Hunter/Hunted and revisit the area?
I shall answer that another day.
Nice man, really appricate the work you put into trying to help. Hopefully it'll help somebody who wants to start a new game/go back in a save file or maybe even someone from Bethesdawho should totally say hey or something
Thanks again, I'll be sure to update the first post if we find the trigger.
Not sure how much I can help others but very luckily I found that one of my save files not too far from my current one is not corrupted. I've only lost about 3 hours of gameplay. To see if maybe I can help anyone else I can compare the quests I did in that timeframe. I'm pretty certain that the only thing I did today was the Silver Shroud quest line, and the bug started occurring shortly after I
i'm curious, what happens on console? does the screen just freeze and you gotta restart? the game crashes to desktop for us on PC.
I haven't done any of the Silver Shroud quests, but i think i have it started.
I'm thinking perhaps it is not a quest but an area that causes this area to crash for us? like maybe going somewhere down in the city near where Strong is, causes the save corruption or whatever that causes us the crash in this other area.
thoughts?
Maybe we have a lead! Can anyone else confirm whether or not they've done the Silver Shroud questline before the bug started occurring? As it's the only quest line I've done today, I'm starting to think it's something here that might corrupt the save file.
I haven't done or started that quest yet. Cheers for trying tho, pretty cool seeing everyone try to figure out bug and help each otheeer even if the bug is destroying my life-force.
The one's I have active are
Kidnapping at Greentop nursery
Dangerous Minds
Revielle
Tradecraft
Clearing the way for something beach
Fire support
4 misc (check cases, sheffield nuka cola, explore combat zone, see abbott at wall)
Could be the crashing because of location instead of quest, all I really know is it happens later in the game so could be location or quest. I'm really good at narrowing things down
