Fallout 4 crash in specific area

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:31 am

Glad to see I'm not alone with this problem, been playin since release and the crashing started Friday evening, I noticed when the game crashes it downloads something but nothing is fixed, also I verified my integrity and it said 1 file was missing and would be downloaded, rebooted the game and still crashing in the specific area in op's post. Kinda crappy was lookin forward to playing all weekend, hopefully we'll see a patch early this week.

So you glad to see....you feel good when other people suffer? Monster!!! :lmao:

When program crashes some files can "break", usually setting files, save games if you crash during saving and so on.

The downloading you see in steam sometimes after exiting a game is the game syncing up with steam cloud. If you have steam cloud enabled in your steam settings that is likely what you saw downloading in your library when you crashed, so thats likely unrelated.

It just occured to me that when i reloaded an uncorrupted save to play last night i took a slightly different path to diamond city. I took the eastern road near the police station and library i think down to the city gates, whereas the first time i took the straight down path from the river, which was full of super mutants. I doubt that area is the cause of all this but i figured i'd mention it so others can cross reference. I'll check that area out when i get home tonight to see if it makes a difference.

Got the crash around CIT, I can avoid the area for now, but the BoS questline where you fly on rails for the first time crashes too at a very specific point so that's off my list too. (Shadow Of Steel)

Misery loves company, almost as much as Bethesda loves releasing buggy games and Todd loves telling sweet little lies.

It could be worse, Todd could be the same as Peter Molyneux :)

Hahaha Molyneux just makes me laugh with what he promises, he is the master of BS.

Each failed promise adds to his life-force adding a year onto his life

I crash to desktop when entering the Federal Ration Stockpile (either entrance).

I am attempting to complete the Kidnapping from Abernathy Farm quest.

I'm in the same situation too its just really annoying especially with the fact that there a lot of main mission quest going through that area is hope Bethesda fix this soon with how game breaking it is.

I used TFC to get to the Sanctuary (place where I crash) until the end of the bridge. Beyond that it doesn't render. If I move my character a tiny bit closer, and then use TFC to look beyond, it crashes. I have very little idea why that happens.

Frick, yes - I have a 20-30 hour sanctuary build now, over 30,000 in steel alone... there's no fracking way i'm doing that again.

Also, i've had limited success in doing a File Verification (via steam) - It seems to correct some of the crashing issues. Also, I'm running with the script logger on (see my above posts, some on previous page too) - It lags the game, but seems to prevent some crashes - I'm guessing that some things are being set before they should be (Processing that needs to happen in a certain order doesnt, thus a crash. Lagging the game can potentially force a universal slowdown, which lets things happen in the proper order.)

So far the verify-after-every-crash has let me get back into almost all areas that crashed prior to the verify, with a few exceptions.

Well, I'm having the same problem, also around the C.I.T and also during the Hunter/Hunted quest. How long do you think until we get a patch? This is a pretty big problem.

it's unfortunate bethseda hasn't commented yet on the monsignor plaza/ cit area bug considering the main story quest (and many side quests) take you directly to this area. you can effectively not complete the main story without using console commands (on the pc). i guess if you're on xbox or ps you're out of luck.

So I've been having the crashing in the CIT area and i just keep playing around it waiting for a patch...never got one but i added the ENB mod (www nexusmods com/fallout4/mods/332/?) and decided to go back to the CIT area and try again and...I didn't crash 0.0
anyone else want to give it a shot to see if works?

Tried with 16GB and MaxStabilty ENB mod but both CTD for me when I tried continuing my walk past Monsignor Plaza to the bridge in the "Boston After Dark" quest.

Guess it is another quest I have to place in my CTD queue for now.

Nope, didn't work for me either. Thanks though

Lots of people have and the problem usually returns. We think something triggers it.

Looks like i said something too soon. I got to 70% heading from the CIT building...closest I've ever got and it finally crashed. I saw a lot of graphical issues on my way there though. Normally stuff that would be fixed by reloading did get fixed

Can I borrow a feeling?

One minute, your wife is cooking you your favorite meal; the next, you're thawing hotdogs in a gas station sink.?

I want to decimate raiders from the commonwealth the waiting is torturous.
