This might explain why there were 300 people on this thread earlier, I thought that was pretty darn wierd seeing as we usually have 40.

Loving the enthusiasm there bud

Lots of people on that story are saying its not game breaking because it doesn't effect main story quests and I can't even reply to tell them it does as I just get greeted with errors and it telling me I'm a bot.

i saw that as well, too lazy to make an account to inform them that many main story quests take you thru this part of town so it is therefore gamebreaking, especially to people on console who can't do the workarounds.

WOOT! Maybe we can get somewhere now!

On a sad note i found another quest you can't complete because of this bug. It's called "Emogine Takes a Lover" and at one stage of the quest you have to go "Charles View Amphitheater" to talk to someone. As you can see on the wiki(fallout.wikia com/wiki/Charles_View_Amphitheater), it's close to the crash area...

Yeah dude, I've known about that one. If you could do find a workaround then I'd be really grateful.

Here are some intructions on how you can do it;

to get a location to teleport to in a quest use player.sqt This'll show you all your active quests, it can be a pain to go through them unfortunately

On the console screen, it'll have a reference and a load door key. you can use player.moveto thecode example: player.moveto 000F492Fe thats a made up code

if the objective is outside then you might need to complete the objective instead, you can use player.sqs questId (the quest id is in player.sqt, current quest: IDHERE)

That'll show all the steps of the quest you have to do, you can then use player.setstage QUESTID STAGEID to complete that stage, might take a few tries to complete the correct stage

You can use completequest QUESTID to complete a quest.

Hopefully that makes sense and can help you, if you do find a workaround we'd love to hear it!

That's copied from a post I replied to so i apologize if it's a little messy

Huh? I completed this quest without any problems whatsoever, even though I crash all the time in this zone to the west from bunker hill

It worked for me, as I said before.

What "crash area" are you talking about? The one that fixed for me was cambridge around CIT. This thread is covering multiple crash areas.

I can repeat it easily and provide saved games if you'd like to confirm or test that...

...in one saved game i take a step and it will crash.

...in the post nuclear option saved game i am in the exact same spot, take a step and it doesn't crash.

Also, I wouldn't really refer to them as "corrupted saves" as we don't know that that is the problem. I doubt it is, since this issue happens cross platform. That is a different problem (saves not loading = corrupt save, saves storing data incorrectly = corrupt save)

The save files are working perfectly, it is just saving an instance of the game that is broken due to bad quest / npc logic.

ie, the saves are saving incorrect data, NOT that they're saving correct data incorrectly.

Except that it affects the main story line and BOTH faction story lines. Along with a bunch of other random quests........... so yeah lol

I completed this quest with no problem as well.

There is no "the crash area" there are multiple crash areas.

Hahhaa I know! I really want to reply them to respectfully tell that it's a serious bug that effects a fairly large area. I also noticed lots of people are finishing the game which makes me wonder why it's happening to us -_-

Sounds like the place you have to go to is close to the crash area meaning a lot of people are going through it. I'd also agree with our saves not being 'corrupted' yet.

I'm playing the game with about 10 other people and I'm the only one that got this problem.

The main difference between all of our playthroughs is:

1. i focused on minutemen and did not advance brotherhood quests

2. i did silver shroud (one guy got the bug where he didn't get the quest over the radio)

Major spoilers to explain the end-game and how it fixed:

Spoiler
You choose between the various factions at one point, including Institute.

You can choose to side with the institute and resolve things peacefully (Nuclear Family) or side with one of others and blow up the institute. There are a few more, irrelevant, choices you make within those decisions.

At some point in the quest it will wipe your outstanding faction quests out (because you've sided with one of them)

If you choose the nuclear option CIT is turned into a huge nuclear crater and the surrounding areas are wiped out.

On my playthrough I did the following:

kill father immediately, first time seeing
choose minutemen
do not evacuate
bring kid

I can run around the CIT area freely after this happened.

I completed this quest with no issues, the location is east of where I'm crashing. Have you tried coming in from the north or the east of the Amphitheater?

I've done this quest, and you have to be outside to do it. So if you guys ARE crashing in the area of the ampitheater you'll need to skip by that dialogue and auto complete that, and teleport into the room inside the amphitheater. It's a pretty significant bypass in terms of story of the quest in my opinion.

It HAS to be the order in which we did quests. I know I'm someone who likes to do a ton of side quests before I even start on much of the main story. Maybe it has something to do with doing other quests before doing much of the main story or some of the BoS or Railroad story? I got the crash and was on like early stages of all of those but had a ton of settlements and was pretty far in with other quests.

THIS. I did the same thing. Focused on Minutemen and Silver Shroud before doing the main questlines. I REALLY think it has to do with this.

Anyone who started a new save. Can you try progressing into those areas and completing the quests in those areas for the BoS, Railroad, and Main story quest and then do minutemen quests, etc.? If we can get feedback on that then we'll know for sure.

I also focusd on the Minutemen, did a bunch of their quests but I swear I've heard people in this thread who haven't. It's still odd nontheless that you're playing with 10 people and only you got the crash.

For anybody wondering.

I've done one Railroad quest where I found them straight away by following a freakin line and guessing the password.

I've done quite a few MinuteMen quests

Not done the SIlver Shroud prior to the crash.

No BoS quests.

Spoiler
Killed Kellog is most recent main mission.

Guess they think only the bug make PC explode is a gamebreaking one.

Hahaha true, if the bug destorys your computer and robs you off your bank details and then proceeds to write a strongly worded letter to your boss then and ONLY then is it a game-breaking bug.

Yeah I'm not 100% sure on that one, but I was able to complete it no problem. Hope it helps some people!

On another note, if you're just coming into this thread the workarounds are actually not that bad. You don't miss much story and it allows you to progress. There's not a whole lot more in that area (from what I can tell) until end game, and it seems that once you complete the game it fixes the issue and you can go into that location.

The game has been out less than a week, and 2 of those days have been weekend days. Give Bethesda a few days to get their [censored] together before bringing out the pitchforks.

I'm out for the night, will check back in in the morning to see if I can help with anything else.
