Fallout 4 crash in specific area

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:41 am

Could be. Made one small edit. Thanks again to Northfield for the last two steps. I got stuck at the vertibird escape :< However the way I posted above avoids using TCL, so you don't get any janky companion bugs popping up after.

Hello, I'm about 30 hours into the game and I'm experiencing this crash as well. It is completely game-breaking and I am horribly upset. I play on PC so I can use console commands - but I can't discover the locations, and quite honestly - i can't explore, which is the point of Fallout 4...

I have played 70 hours without a crash, until I got to the USS Constitution and started that quest line.
It seems whenever I left the ship by going through the doors on each deck, and ending up at the walkway under the ship, I would be unceremoniously dumped to the desktop without an "Exclamation" sound or ANYTHING.
My last crash, was in the area where the ship was, and I opened my Pip-Boy to check my map and fast travel back to Sanctuary and my game never recovered.
The screen went black with the Pip Boy mouse cursor showing, but that was the end of that, it had crashed, but this time, just locked on switching to the Pip Boy screen.

If I departed the ship from the top deck by taking the "Lifeboat elevator" it wouldn't dump me to the desktop.
I checked my file integrity etc

I understand that dude, the workarounda are there for people who need to complete the quest and would rather just progress. Hopefully a patch will allow you to carry on with your save and explore the location :)

Strange, I don't think I had that issue. I did notice that Piper was stuck on the Vertibird until about halfway through my adventure on the inside of the Prydwen--it might just depend on who your companion is, because I know the game will attempt to teleport them to you if they're too far away for too long, unless you gave them a Wait command. Either way, player.moveto 001a7a50 is a MUCH more elegant solution than movetoqt and trying to fnagle with gravity. Thanks for the contribution.

I might restart my game on Survival mode, then go directly to that plaza/cit area and see what happens. (after running from hordes of OP raiders no doubt)

I tried loading an old save and the bug was gone, problem is that it might ofcourse reappear even if we start over... F it! I'm going back to Battlefield until official patch solves this mess, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Any way to complete the "Weathervane: Camp Kendall" quest for the Railroad? I've already done a few other weathervane quests so I probably won't gain anything of value by doing this one. Console commands to complete each quest objective and a way to get rid of the MILA in my inventory would really help me out.

It's me again. I went back through my saves. The one after the Fort Hagen is corrupted. I checked before that. The one right at the end of the station where you rescue Nick Valentine. I went before that. There are 1-2 quests missing, and the locations around Hubris Comics - but that save is okay. There's only a handful of things I didn't do on that save inbetween those two. I have a strong feeling it's an NPC, dialogue or script related to Diamond City or the Good Neighbor area.

we need a list of all NPC and entities in that area that may affect it. Then you can just disable them in console and see what happens. It may help to find the culprit.

I did that quest and it didn't fix it for me. That was one of the first quests I did when I got to Diamond City.

Some people have said they didn't get that far and had the problem. I would remove that from the OP but some gaming outlets have already said it might have somthing to do with it so I'm just gunna leave it there for now. In toooo deep

That'd be great if you or somebody can find a way, it'd take a while though. Currently Bethesda is looking at save files and I think they have a better chance of finding the problem. Cheers for the suggestion tho

The issue is that only people who CAN enter that area under the hunter quest can probably list the object ID's for us. With the power of triangulation maybe we can pinpoint the asset doing the issue. However I can't touch that area, it is easy to get object ID's however, just drop console down and use mouseover on any object in view (last time I checked this works for all Beth games).

Maybe it is a particular script that doesnt require that quest to be running? Also, I'm gonna try sleeping for 31 days.

Hey! I have same problem like you guys! I checked my very old saves. Before taking quest "Fire Support" everything worked. Near CIT crashing location i received radio frequency AF95. Leaving this area i lost signal for AF95. Maybe getting frequancy for finished quest bugs game? I just explored a bit fo north part of the map, never been in diamond city and complated 1 quest for minuteman. I have never met Nick Valentine or any quest about him too :(

Maybe dude but I have no idea what. The only thing I've found to look at games files is Tes5Edit and I'm damn terrible at it. If you hear anything then we'd love to know though!

Also you might be really excited for Christmas to sleep for a month. /terriblejoke

Ayyyyy, welcome to the thread. We complain here a lot, so something you like that. Yeah, sounds exactly like what we're having, svcks to hear you're having the problem. Feel free to use the workarounds and ask for any help with them. Thanks for the minuteman info, some people here have said that it could be what caused the crash but I think a lot of people have done at least one of them so I'd doubt thats it.
