Fallout 4 crash in specific area

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:11 am

Well it's definitely location based. As others have mentioned, I could not enter anywhere from Monsignor Plaza to the C.I.T. ruins. It seems like it's the same affected area for everyone that's getting this bug. I'm almost back to the same progress that I was earlier today mission-wise after playing for the last hour and checking the bugged zone after completing each step of the quest. So far I'm still able to access the region without any problems. I have no idea what corrupted my save- I haven't been able to replicate it yet.

i have the same issue with the monsignor plaza area. i was doin the silver shroud quest and was tasked with killing 2 targets around there. but anytime i walk close to that part of the map i get the desktop crash. if i try to FT to the plaza, i get the crash. obviously it was working before, since i had the plaza available for quick travel before

i also hadnt even gone to diamond city yet, so my main questline was lacking

I meant it could be a location instead of quest that triggers the crash at the Mornsignor/C.I.T area.

edit: after Riftweavers comment, seems it is a location thing rather then a quest thing. ALL THOSE HOURS OF PURE DETECTIVE SKILLZ LOST. welcome to the depressing club of depressingness btw Riftweaver.

Your save file is still salvageable! Go reload your saves one by one starting with the one closest to the one that you first noticed the CTD. I was able to go back about 3 or 4 saves and continue my game without crashes. All I had to do was redo the Silver Shroud quests that I did this afternoon. I checked the Monsignor Plaza area after completing each stage of the quest and I just finished the part that you're talking about where you have to find Northy and Smiling Kate. I have no idea what caused the crash the first time, but if you have a save file that's not corrupted within a reasonable amount of time from the one that is, I think it's worth going back and 'cheating' your way back to where you were using god mode and noclip rather than starting a whole new game and losing 15-20 hours of progress.

hey everybody in this thread and reading it. please remember to submit this using bethesda's feedback page: ht tp://help.bethesda.n et/app/fallout_feedback

just making sure everyone here has done so. the more people that do it, the faster (hopefully) we get a patch.

also, thanks cryttek for the workarounds, i haven't a need for that one yet but if i come to it and there isn't a patch for us yet i'll likely find it helpful.

I'm thinking if we dont hear from bethesda tomorrow we should make a post on /r/fallout just to try to raise awareness and get people to report feedback to bethesda.

I too am currently suffering from crashes in specific spots, and have also tried everything under the sun to fix it; even such things as removing inventory to try and see if there are corrupted items (though KEY items are impossible to test) and dismissing/changing my companion. Though, it seems those 'specific spots' are spreading, and many in number. I haven't been playing that long (14 hours? ~level 9), so I don't know much about the areas or quests, so forgive me if it's the same as you all have been discussing. I will do my best regarding screenshots of current/completed quests, exact spots of crashing, and my little knowledge of things.

From what I can recall, I had never been to most of these areas prior. Something to note though, was I did experience a crash at Sanctuary randomly near my crafting benches; not sure on that one's cause, but I was definitely in a spot I had been before.

So far, my crashes have been around/near [southeast of] Kendall Hospital (C.I.T., as everyone else) and the broken bridge toward the landmass Diamond City is on (not the same as everyone else).

Here's my crash "data" (Note: don't have "permission" to post links, so delete the 2 spaces):

https:// youtu. be/kG_WRre9cl8

Shows: Currents quests, 4 places I've crashed, final frame of crashes, and that Fall Out Boy makes...ahem, "good" music.

Here's hoping there's a fix soon! Cheers!

Hey I posted on a similar topic and I have the same issue it's been 3 days now! and still no patch!

We can't progress in the game, in the stories, in the main quest!

Bethesda what are you doing??? I sent you 2 feedback and no one replies. Get to work damn it! I paid your game 60€ and it doesn't work. I thought you were a serious studio!

I will do the main-quest to get to Hunter/Hunted, and if these work, I will start any quest listed and complete them. Working through the quests like this seems the best way.

Edit: I was able to do Hunter/Hunted just fine.

Same issue here, i could almost draw the exact same circle on my map as you have. In my opinion something is trying to load into the area that is just causing hell, so i wonder if any particular quest line causing something 'new' to load into the area, either way Bethesda you guys really need to jump on this one ASAP as it is rendering multiple quest lines unplayable, including the main one!

I'm also experiencing these exact same symptoms (PS4), my game crashes whenever I come within a hundred feet of that area - meaning there are quite a few quests I can't do, mainly 'Hunter/Hunted' and 'Shadow Of Steel'. I've tried reinstalling the game, changing companions, bringing no companions, etc, etc but to no avail. I currently can't progress on the main quest, so until there is a patch I'm stuck, which is absolute [censored]!

I hope we hear from some one at Bethesda shortly, but I highly doubt that due to the high frequency of other bugs they'll have to deal with first - i just hope their next patch for the game isn't just focused on performance or minor bugs, because this is a pretty game breaking bug and I didn't realise there was so many people suffering from it at this stage.

Godspeed guys, godspeed

Awesome, thanks for all the info dude and the video! From the video seems like you are having the same crash, only one I haven't experience is the bridge one. Love the music too;)

For anybody that wants to see it, here's the direct link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG_WRre9cl8

Thanks man, appreciate the work

Yeah something defiently changes in that area wether its a quest, person or somrthing. Hopefully it'll be patched soon with the attention it's getting.

svcks that you're on PS4 and can't try any of the workarounds but thanks for posting. If you find any quests in the area that haven't got a workaround for then feel free to post and we'll try to find a workaround for others :)

Having the exact same issue on PS4, game locks up but doesn't crash, just stuck on the same screen with sound in a loop.

Tried re-installing the game, playing without update, even changing companions and pip boy app settings, still crashes, about 25 hours into the game and I tried a save from 10 hours in and it still crashes. Hoping they get a patch to fix this as there are a bunch of main and side quests I'm now locked out of.

Having the exact same issue, made a feedback report. Tried almost everything but create a new game(about 26 hours into the game).

I don't really have anything to add, so I'm only writing here to hopefully get this issue prioritized by Bethesda so it can get fixed.

I'm not really comfortable doing some of the existing workarounds.

Really annoying bug though!

Sorry to hear dude, thanks for making the feedback report tho and no worries bout adding nothing, just bumping the thread helps with noticeability a lot.

Most of the workarounds just spawn you inside the quest area instead of going through the Cambridge area but I'm not doing them yet either, gunna wait a week for a patch then I'll probably use them, i've tried most of them tho and they're fine.
