Fallout 4 crash in specific area

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:07 am

I'm not very good on forums so I'm not sure what adding tags is about. I don't think I'm spoiling anything though... The mission you get from the tech guy in the railroad Rail Road, "Weathervane: Camp Kendal" has you doing something west of CIT, the same crash happens. I saw another thread saying that the location you need to go to is random?? Not sure if it's true. The location, more specifically the one I need to go to, is right near the bridge on the west side of CIT right before you'd cross the river going south west.

For what it's worth, when I crash, I get no error or anything. It just blanks to the desktop like the game wasn't even running. A quicksave right before a crash allows me to walk up to an almost invisible wall around the CIT area that, as soon as I cross it, crash..

This what I get by attaching a debug process to the game prior to the crash; probably useless without debugging symbols but perhaps there's an off-chance it'll provide some support for getting at the underlying problem:

Yeaah, we've been at 200+ for the last two days, only now have we been down to 90. We're almost at 100,000 views now.

He's dedicatted to the cause! hahaa

They have got into contact a few pages back and I've just been messaged by gstaff asking for all my saves. I deleted them though whilst finding the one cloest to the crashgood going joe area so hopefully somebody else can send them.

Registered just to post this. Crash to desktop without warning, when trying to follow High Rise. It's all good until you walk towards him.

Wow, this thread has certainly got a lot more attention since my response / video on page 3, haha. Awesome!

Awesome, as in horrible. Can't believe there is still no true fix. "Restarting" is not an option, because that is not a fix on the developer's end, and because the bug can easily happen again without knowing the true cause.

On that note, I will also mention that now I crash seemingly at random sometimes. Just now I was reloading after deaths with quickload and the game crashed. As in...I reloaded a few times, same exact spot, fought and died. Then hit F8 (my quick reload), it froze a bit, then just crashed to desktop. Earlier I found more spots that it just crashes on me. Except now, not only do I crash to desktop, Steam Client Bootstrapper errors / stops responding, and I have to re-open Steam altogether. It's like a disease that's learning and spreading. Like...Mr. Smith from The Matrix. Where's our Bethesda Neo?

C'mon Beth, you can do it. We believe in you. :wavey:

We didn't exactly have a full conversation about it K_Lou, I only sent one of my save files though. How many did you send?

It could be becuase I'm the chosen one, personally I'm going with that reason.

Sorry to hear dude, hopefully there'll be a patch soon

Yeah I just sent them a save where I was right next to where I crashed. They've got a bunch of save files now though I bet.

Hi there,

I have made an account just to say that I found this kind of bug on the first day and have been just avoiding them but the list of no go location that cause a crash is getting increasingly long.

For me the three location/quests i can't do is

Quest: Taking Independence Location: The castle

Quest: Find Nick Valentine Location: Boston Common

Quest: Diamond city blues Location: Four leaf fishpacking plant.

Heading toward each location causes a crash to desktop with no error message or other problems.

Sigh, it is a shame because the rest of the game is so good.

Unfortunately the log doesn't show anything useful, the game runs on all available cores so the error is likely happening elsewhere. However the access violation is what I expected. That's a C++ error, so that would be happening anywhere.

Without debugging enabled it would be hard to speculate on the problem, unless you're able to rig a version of gamebyro to the game with debug enabled.

You should report this bug and all info to this thread so it can be logged and listed:

Over 100 guests....over 600 posts...come on Bethesda, how long do we have to wait for another patch? A month?

Not to be too rude but this should've been fixed by now, a lot of people have this problem.

I agree. This is getting ridiculous now it's been over a week and they've made no shortage of cash on it, i paid for this i understand how development works and i understand they probably needed a break after release but that doesn't mean after a week of being released it's still OK to have a game breaking bug that affects a few missions, i know theirs work arounds but i shouldn't HAVE TO do them it ruins my experience, i paid for a working game. Most of the Bethesda bugs are usually hilarious but one that completely breaks you're game is just not on.

I'd be happy with just some form of communication from a Bethesda dev. Even if it was just "it's a really complicated bug we're working on it but no ETA as of yet" I know the community manager said there looking at saves but this was Monday, the team for this game has probably moved on to Elder Scrolls 6 by now but with the payday they just got, spending a few more weeks sorting this game out isn't too much to ask. Just an official response saying there trying to sort it would be enough for me tbh...

I'm not an official but the dev-team seems to be definitly working on it. Gstaff sent me a request from the dev-team to provide them all of my savegames this morning. So appearently they are on it and it seems complicated...?

Yeah they said the same to me but I deleted them looking for the one closest to the crash so hopefully they'll get something outta yours and others. If you send all the saves to him, say that I deleted mine, i'd rather not clog up his inbox.

I know everybodys annoyed but probably best not to complain too much or they'll possibly lock the forum, we know they're onto the crash so best to just wait.

Hi to everybody, I've not encountered (yet...) the bug but now I'm scared to play the game, I don't wanna waste 30+ hours of gameplay for nothing....plus I'm sorry for all of you and I wanna do my best to help you, so I add a comment to this long thread, hoping Bethesda will fix this soon.

Does everyone have understand what trigger the crash? It's Monsignor Plaza? A quest? It can be triggered entering the place without a quest active, or doesn't matter? I've read some messagges but unfortunately I don't have time to read 20+ pages. Haven't unlocked Monsignor Plaza yet, haven't quests about it yet.

And apologies for my bad english!

I'm soo on that bruhhh but im away from the game right now

Don't be scared about the bug, the chanes of you getting it are realllly slim. Tons of people have finished the game without encountering it and even if you do, there's a good chance of it being patched by then

We're unsure of the trigger (and believe me, we've tried). The crash is around Morsignor Plaza/Cambridge/C.I.T Ruins area. People that have done the same quests we have, have not experienced the crash so as I said, you should be fine. Don't worry about reading the 20 pages, I put the things we've tried so anybody who wants to join the thread can do so by just reading the OP & 2nd post so no worries there :)

Your english is better then mine most of the time ;)
