Well I have managed to "fix" the crash I had.

I completed the "pull the plug" mission which was outstanding and now I can approach Corvega Assembly Plant.

So it seems having that quest outstanding was causing my crash.

I just tested this by jumping back between saves before and after completing that quest and it fixes it everytime.

Sorry to hear man, feel free to use the workaround and ask for help if you need too :)

Just commenting helps, lots of people been viewing the thread but not many people just saying they've had the problem so cheers

I've unlocked Trinity and done the quest there but heard about the theory before somewhere on the thread and others said they didn't and still crashed. :/ good find tho

Hi, sorry to hear you're having the crash - hopefully they'll be a patch soon. The SoS and Hunter quests we both have workarounds for and are probably the most used so you should be okay with them if you don't mind using Console Commands.

All the best

Yeah, the Valentine time thing many of people have said they've done before but so many gaming outlets reported on it I thought I'd best leave it there. Thanks for the info though.

I haven't even got Cait yet, I really can't wait to be able to play again ahaaha

It's always fun seeing the number of people following this go waaay up then back down becuase your inbox goes crazy hahaa

Also, those people playing on survival, I applaud you

Strange thing for me...the game was flawless up to level 25 (OK...minor things like clipping and a few framedrop moments, but otherwise awesome playing in survival mode with ultra settings!) Then the Monsignor area CTD happened on the second technology BOS mission (had even already cleared Monsignor). I started a new game and could barely get passed opening the Vault 111 door to exit...and all terminals after that almost always get stuck. So, I reinstalled the game and first play through, terminal bug still there and now the audio sync of NPC conversations is always off. It's like, once the bugs started, they multiplied!!! I love the game...it was fun while the smooth gameplay lasted, but I might wait for a major patch to come out before anymore adventuring (I rebuilt Sanctuary twice now!)

So I found out I have this bug on my 50+ hour save. Tried going back as far as 25 hours but I still crash around that area. This has totally killed my enjoyment of the game, I want to keep playing but I feel like I'm wasting my time with a save that will still be ruined even after a patch. Anyone think its worth to keep doing other quests or should I just bit the bullet and restart?

I don't know how likely it is that the saves will work after a patch. Personally I don't want to wait and see, since it might be a while. And I definately don't want to play more and then realize I need to restart. Because of this I just started a new game like 3 hours ago (2h spent on character creating haha :P ). I don't feel that bad about starting a new game, gives me a chance to do some things better now that I know more about the game and I still find it enjoyable doing the same quests, seeing there are so many ways to do them! But well, that's just my opinion on the matter!

And I'm gonna make sure I save after every quest and after every major quest or so I'm gonna head to the area to make sure I don't have the crash!

I have been to Trinity Tower and I'm crashing. But seems like people have been there without crashing, right?

Found a workaround for a Railroad Quest called Weathervane: Camp Kendall

Workaround is:

1. Be told to set up MILA

2. Open Console

3. Enter command: player.setstage RRR05 200

4. Turn in quest to Tinker Tom

Hope that helps you guys when you get there :)

Awesome, updated OP. Amazing how we still find quests going through the area. I think I heard of that quest before as well but I forgot to update the OP. my only job

And starting a new game doesn't seem like a bad idea tbh, I missed getting the power around in the first building to go to -_- I fought a deathclaw with the worst gun and thought I had to revive dogmeat or he'd die ahaha Im gunna wait tho, Im cool waiting and having toooons to do when I play again

So should I just start a new save? Dont particularly want to as i have 60 hours. But if the patch won't come for weeks then I don't know.

I've not done any BoS quests, only one active in log - haven't done any of it tho.

Honestly down to you, I dont think you'll be required to start a new save when a patch comes but not 100%. So depends if you dont mind waiting, they have our saves and aware of the bug but haven't heard any approximation or updates on it. I personally don't mind waiting and having most of the game to do but if you have free time then go for it - you can always load up the other save if it gets patched soon.

Tried your workaround but it seems my glitch is even weirder, and it doesn't really matter if I go back to old save or not; the vertibird flies to Prydwen but then it flies thru terrain, because whole Prydwen doesn't want to load; if I walk on foot after I teleported myself or something I can't see it either, so I went back to old save and re played Reunions exited from roof and I the script that's supposed to make the ship fly over doesn't even trigger, this seems to affect the game later on this quest not wanting to load the ship at all. Any solution with the console to make the ship load?

Sorry if this has been answered, but is the settlement quest safe to do, or should I ignore anything that sends me to Monsignor Plaza? I've never been before, just picked up this quest not knowing it'd send me there but I could revert back a few minutes and avoid accepting it completely.

Thanks.

Next patch coming next week

"Our process for updating the game will include releasing a beta patch on Steam, followed by full release on PC, then release on the consoles. This process has worked well for us in the past and allows us to get more fixes out faster. Expect to see more updates, that are smaller and more frequent, than a few big ones. This allows us to make sure each fix is working right, as any change can have unintentional side effects in a game this huge. We expect the first beta patch to be up next week."

Most people haven't done the quest and still have the crash so it should be fine, go there now and have a look. You'll want to do it asap as it's a timed quest

edit: ugh double post. sorry

I've been having these issues on PS4 and have been following this thread for a week. Finally caved and started a new account after reaching level 40 with no patch. Lo and behold, every new game I start freezes during the intro mission, right after you exit the cryogenic chamber. Had to create 4 different new characters until it actually worked. This game is a dumpster fire of bugs, even for being a week old, and I'm really sick of it by now. I wish I could say I'd never buy another Bethesda game after this experience, but that probably isn't true. At least I didn't preorder this I guess.

So, I've loaded a lot of old saves, and found out they started to get the crash bug after I entered Trinity Tower. One save is when I'm in the middle of the tower, so I got out of it and went to MIT/Greenetech/Monsignor and I was already crashing. Then I loaded up a save made an hour earlier in Diamond City before going to the Tower and went to the crash areas: I was able to move freely around there... Though the game did seem to run a little worse.

Darn it, Strong...

So if you load up your Diamond City save (which is good), then walk into Trinity Tower, then teleport to the crash area (coc CambridgeCraterExt into the console will instantly teleport you there) -- does it start crashing? I wonder if it is :

a) Simply discovering/walking past Trinity tower

B) Entering trinity tower

c) Climbing past a certain point in trinity tower.

It seems like both our saves are in the middle of Trinity, so we arent quite sure what about Trinity may have caused it. I'll try it too when i get a chance to play today.

Does anyone have the Guide? If you do, can you check to see if

1) It lists all the random encounters in the game and

2) it lists there potential locations

To me, this sounds like a random encounter problem. It sounds like a particular random encounter spawning in a particular place causes that area when loaded into memory to kill the game. It would explain why not everyone has it, and why it seems to happen, well, randomly. By the time we (users) got around to figuring it out though, the official patch will probably be out.

I really hope it is addressed in the patch next week AND at least a short explanation what caused it, because it gets really interesting.

I will say that I am on PS4 and I never even went to Diamond City yet and I have the bug (I have now since gone there so I know what trinity tower is. I'm just wasting time doing other stuff until they fix the bug and slowly doing main quest things until I reach the point I can't but right now I'm back to base building mostly).

But the earliest I noticed getting the bug (basically I went back a few save games trying to find a clean one and gave up, the earliest one I had done this stuff):

I did the one cleaning up Point Sunshine Tidings co op

Did the sanctuary quest

First Step

When Freedom Calls

Out of time.

I was in the middle of working on Troubled Waters (on my list but untouched), was in the middle of clearing the way for green top nursery (in fact I was heading from clearing the house of mosquitoes over to Diamond City and Monsignor Plaza just happened to be in between which is how I discovered it), Had on my list raider troubles at oberland station, pull the plug (I think unstarted too), Jewle of the Commonwealth (was supposed to go to diamond city), and a miscellanous quest of getting jet for Mama Murphy.

Most of my time I spent exploring the north end and working on settlements. And that's it.

Ok, this is the first Bethesda game I've bought launch day (every other one I discovered a year or more after they were out so were fully patched).

How likely is it that this bug will be in the first patch? I wish they would acknowledge this one in their announcement or at least say they are working on it even if they don't fix it in this patch.
