Fallout 4 crash in specific area

I'm having a issue getting ANYWHERE NEAR the CIT building. Including the police station where the BOS is located at. Whenever I get anywhere near the town it decides to CTD on me.

Yeah, we've gotten quite a few Papyrus logs (some about birds among other things) . I'll add this to 2nd post to see if anybody finds out if it's related. Thanks :)

Kidnapping settlement quest can be completed by traveling to Monsignor from the North; same with the Quartermastery quest. The crater is also accessible this way, but only the top half. The container in its center is inaccessible. The CTD area appears to be an oval centered on Greentech Genetics, with the Charles View Amphitheater being the only other map marked location completely inaccessible.

Which kidnapping quest and where did you have to go? I had to go to Morsignor Plaza on mine and had to use a console command.

I also heard the Quartermastry was a repeatable quest so it might change location? Unsure on that tho

The kidnapping quest I received was "Kidnapping at Country Crossing." I also had to go to Morsignor Plaza, but I was able to go in from the North-side doors. Exiting through the South doors caused a CTD. Try fast traveling to the Tucker Memorial Bridge or the BADTFL Regional Office and approach Morsignor Plaza on foot. There should be 2-3 raiders in a covered entrance, might require some lockpicking.

Yes the Quartermastery quest repeats and changes location. I had to go to Morsignor Plaza for the fourth one I did, "Recover the Reflex Capacitor." Same fix as above.

So is it just a corrupted save thing?That will never be fixed?

One night wake up only to see my 124h character is assumedly dead.

Can we just have an official answer or something to clarify if we really have no choice but to restart?

Ahh fair enough, I remember trying to get into Morsignor Plaza two ways before creating a workaround as it's easier for me then trying every direction. Thanks though, I'll probably give it a try going your way in a sec though. If you do know the questID for Country Crossing then I'll put a workaround in OP for people that still have problems with getting in - I'll also put the method of going round in as well. Boy, a lot of people get kidnapped in that area.

I think a patch will fix being able to get into the area but I'm not 100% on that sorry to say.

I would message gstaff or something but i really don't expect a response, they never so far have given any indication as to what will happen with a patch yet and I don't think this will be an exception. We should find out soon if it'll be patched in the next patch notes for the patch coming out next week. Wish I could be of for help there.

Strange thing is that the CIT building coming from the police station crashed me several times yesterday. When I went to ask what the building was (cause I didn't have the quest yet to know what building it was) on https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3tcd8n/ctd_bug_near_fraternal_post_115_looking_southwest/I attempted one more time and magically was able to approach the building door, enter in and exit without incident. Moving on from that and 6 hours later I've run out of quest to do except for the BOS start that now crashes instead and any area anywhere near the CIT building and it's surrounding area. I can load in momentarily and see the area as well as use my Pipboy but the moment I move. CTD outta nowhere. This is increasingly frustrating cause unfortunately all my other games bore the crap out of me and this is all I have right now.

I'm gonna do a custom save and do a revertworld in the console and see what happens.

Revertworld was a stupid thing to do.... messed everything up.

Results are in.

I deleted local content via Steam.

I deleted the Fallout4 folder located in My Documents/My Games/

After reinstalling, I didn't change any settings or .ini files, just stuck with what the launcher auto-detected. Started a new game. As soon as I exited Vault 111 I coc'ed to the area I'd been CTDing before (which seems a less common spot) which is the area between DB Technical High School and the S. Boston Military Checkpoint. No problems.

coc'ed to the area it seems the majority of people are reporting problems, Greenetech Genetics. No problems there, either.

I'm going to start another game, and with this one I'm going to track quest progression and CTDs in problem areas and post any results.

I feel the same way about always calling graphics cards into play in these situations. Perhaps for a few crashes here and there reported yeah, but for full blown CTD's at a very particular place for a large amount of the fallout community including those people on Xboxes and PS4s it's quite irrelevant.

Here's another weird thought from my QA brain to anyone having issues; when loading a game, first use the "switch character" thing to select a spesific character, then load from that menu. Longshot, but could be that it mixes up different character saves.

Worth a shot i guess.

I have the same issue on the PS4.

I can't complete the Silver Shroud, and the Hunter/Hunted quest. The game crashes every time I get near that area. Just like it's happing to all of us.

I have a digital copy, but my cousin who has a physical copy did not have this issue. I don't know if this has any influence.

I was able to explore that area before, even got the locations on my map. All before getting to Diamond City, or Unlikely Valentine quest. Seems like it triggers after the BoS appeareance.

I saw that the console command "save funclist 1" should write all used RefIDs into a textfile.

It worked many hours (ca. 36h played) ago. The Greemetech was still funcitonal. Also i've already rescued Rex and Strong from the trinity tower.

(but I'm not sure if the Greenetech area would have crashed then, I will check an earlyer save later.)

A save ca. 60h40' in can still write the "save funclist 1"-file, but the Greenetech area is bugged.

In this time I rescued Valentine, so I replayed this mission and just after the mission no crash occures.

Might it be that some RefID is bugged?

could just be some random broken something is randomly spawning and bugging out.

or like someone mentioned greentech could just be the center of the map and something bad going on at location 0,0

so far no crash for me still, since reloading the last workign game I could find. Still havent progressed valentine more, but don't think that will affect anything anyways since the bug was before I even rescue him the first time.

I have a physical copy. I have the bug. I also got the bug well before I talked to anyone in BoS even (I ended up doing that quest when trying to find my way around the area and found the BoS along my way circumventing the area that was bugged as I was trying to get to Diamond City and it was right on my way).

I've been having issues near the ampitheatre and trying to get near smiling kate. When you can in a clear enough view of the ampitheatre and try to go near it, game crashes. Now I'm trying to walk to kate right after killing Northy (west of Kate) and it crashes.

I got the bug and manage to finish this one.Just reduce distance of everthing in the setting, I assume you should smash her face without crash. But another target is a different story.

I haven't started the main quest yet but just completed the quest to free the captured caravan members from bunker hill. I am crashing now every time I try and head back to Bunker Hill or head to the Cabal House to start that quest.

Yup, this is happening to me on my 70+ hours save. It's crashing around the Kendall and C.I.T. Ruins. Just a CTD, no error message or anything. Really hope they patch this [censored].

That was one of my fears.
I really have no clue what do to workaround it.
Or howto proceed with the game after that. I'm really hoping Bethesda come up with a patch to fix all of this SOON.

Because as right now, it's really a bummer to try to play
And put the whole story and the momentum build up for it on hold.

Hi guys, I've been following this threat since page 2, I'm on ps4 and I have this bug :( , I discovered this when I tried to do the shadow of steel quest, after that I did many other quests and I started Hunter/Hunted and now I started Boston after dark and I found something interesting, during the quest I had to escort a guy through the monsignor plaza, I was expecting a crash but as I went deeper in the crash zone , deeper than before the game froze and the sound looped, and I tried to wait more than 10 minutes but no luck, so I reloaded a save I had in that area and I fast travelled to cit ruins and I went to the crash zone and the game didn't crashed, after some more steps( about 10) the game froze:((( , so I tried to go to the bos outpost to do the shadow of steel, and when I was in the vertibird it went further than before before freezing ( confirmed by dialog, about 4 sec) , if someone could reproduce this at pc and look at the log I would appreciate. I also saw a car coming out of the ground at monsignor plaza...
