Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:39 pm

Hello!

after 30 mins of normal playing fallout crashes to windows desktop and

gives an error that says "Graphic card Driver was restored after an error"

I have the newest driver, tried different screen resolutions and temps are OK too.

In Steam i dont have the option to download the Fallout Beta update ...

System:

i7 2600

8GB Ram

ASUS GTX 680 DCIIT

ASUS Xonar Soundcard

Win 10

Thanks for your help!

Fabio

edit: in the region sanctuary it crashes every 5 mins. that dont even makes sense...

Windows 7 64

I'm also experiencing these crashes, but they didn't start until today. Today though I've crashed 3 times.

Experiencing Frequent TDRs in Fallout 4 with my Geforce 680 4 GB under Windows 10. System has 16GB of Ram and an i5-Haswell processor. Newest driver, even older drivers - doesn't matter. I monitored system usage and temperatures, but the crash appears to happen randomly and does not happen with other games I play for longer stretches of time (most recently Borderland: The Pre-Sequel, Diablo 3 and Overwatch).

None of the solutions I found online are helping, including downgrading the driver, playing in window mode, reducing the graphics quality, starting as administrator, starting via GeForce Experience, Compatibility Mode for Windows 7.

This is really annoying and I would love to know what's causing this. Another computer I use, an i7 Haswell with a Geforce 770, runs flawlessly.

This is Windows 10 64 Bit in both cases - GPU Temp goes up to about 75°C Maximum according to Speedfan.

Exactly the Same issues
In sanctuary every 5minutes!!!

I have tried to speed up fan to 100% but 63degres seems ok (afterburner)
also tried SLI with 680 (2gig) and none SLI.
Afterburner says 1770mb vram max should be OK.

Anyone tried to Manipulate tdr times in registry? (Read something about 0 or 60 seconds)

Game runs fine with 60fps in high but this is unplayable

My friend got 560ti with 1gb and could play with low and stuttering (25-30fps) 6hours in a row lol

Kboost made also no difference

My gpus are factory oced maybe Clock to high?

Update: I found out that my card was overclocked by factory default, so I looked up the standard clock speeds for the 680 and used EVGA's PrecisionX Tool to apply those. So far, it seems like this may have fixed the issue - I'll report back if the TDRs come back.

I may be way off here, but the posts in this thread sound like VRAM getting bogged down. Maybe try lower settings?

I've done some research and my card should be able to run the game at ~40 fps on medium settings. I even tried running the game with my laptops integrated graphics and the game actually loaded up but then the drivers for my integrated graphics failed too.

Do you use Nvidia Inspector?

Can you try to raise the fan speed from your GPU? It could be an overheating problem. !!!

Here is a guide: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:NVIDIA_Inspector

Hey mark5917,

thanks for your help but when the error occur the temps are at normal 60-65 degrees so overheating is not the cause.

the error comes up very often in specific areas like sanctuary and/or in other allied villages...

i played 5 hours in a row when i just dont went to that areas, it must be something in this places or the building mode is the cause

As I posted before, lowering the GPU clocks from the factory Overclock (OC) Clock to the Nvidia recommended clock fixed the issue for me. This isn't an issue in any other game strangely enough, but I am happy everything's working now. I suspect that maybe the Voltage for the OC is too little, but I really don't want to experiment at this point.

Glad I was able to help! :) I will probably experiment a little more this weekend to see what aspect of the overclock is actually causing the display driver to crash, but for now I am glad it's working!
