Fallout 3 crashes on startup.

Hey everyone,

I'm new here but I've noticed that the tech guys here are nice and helpful so I decided to post my problem.

I got Fallout about a week ago and installed the game and the DLC and played all week long with no problems at all (almost level 24). Then my brother decided it was time to reformat the pc and reinstall windows 7 so we did that. Now I can install the game and get to the load screen but when I install the DLC it crashes upon startup every time, I don't even get past the black screen.

My comps specs are,
Processor: AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor 2.51 GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series
Motherboard: M3A32-MVP Deluxe WiFi-Ap
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (build 7600)

Not sure if it is the case here but if you installed in the Program Files x86 directory turn UAC off. Either that or install the game in another directory.

[Edit: whoops sorry for the double post!!]

I made both changes that you suggested and it still does the same thing AFTER I install the DLC.

Thanks for the reply :)

Wow, that seemed to do the trick. However I had to change my video settings from medium to high for the game to work, weird huh?

Thank you BlackPanther for your help, I appreciate it!
