Fallout 4 crashes on my PC : Fallout 4

I have installed and uninstalled Fallout 4. I cant get past the man at the door. My video card driver seems to crash every time. I have contacted support got referred back to the FAQ. I have changed resolutions down to the lowest and all other options as low as I can go, my rig isn't that bad. I have tried everything that I can think off and followed the FAQ's. I would like to play the game but find support most frustrating and they referred me to the forums. Any help would be appreciated! I am a bit of a gamer but not up on all aspects of computers. The graphic driver is crashing? DOes it say it's recovering?

If so, I would completely uninstall your GPU drivers and everything Nvidia.

Reboot and download new drivers straight from Nvidia. Make sure they are correct for your OS.

Unistall your drivers through control panel. Clean your registry with CCleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

Download your drivers from: http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/96073

---Install only the drivers the HD audio and the PhysX---

Delete your Fallout4Prefs.ini file in that directory: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

Delete your Fallout4_Default.ini file in that directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4

After verify your game cache files, and start a new game.

Hi Mark, sorry to ask so many questions but when you refer to uninstall my drivers do you mean just the GPU driver? Also when you say install only the drivers the HD audio and the PhysX what do you mean? If you could explain just a little more I would really appreciate it? Thanks

Yes the GPU drivers. WHen you start the GPU driver installation program it will show you a list of options. You want to install the driver (obviously) but also put a check in the Audio and PhysX boxes.

There will also be a clean install checkbox. Put a check in that too. Leave everything else unchecked.

Hi Mark & Jasper, Movie was good. I have tried all that you directed me to do and I did get a little further. I got to the vault this time and then the driver crashed again, it recovers. I have tried putting it on the best to the worst and changing resolutions etc. I even went through the process of uninstalling the GPU driver again. I don't know what else to do and I was so looking forward to playing this game. When you go to windows borderless and change the resolution down it doesn't use the full screen and it crashes anyway. OP is there any reason you haven't upgraded to windows 10 yet? I have a feeling that may help. Not conclusively but the majority of legitimate crashes I've seen are users on Windows 7.

Also your sound driver is very old, that needs updating.

Look in the event viewer for clues. Start menu textbox type evetn viewer.

CHeck windows logs folder and look at sys and app logs. You can clear both logs by right clicking each and select clear log.

Recreate the issue and see what shows up.
