Fallout Crashing on Startup

Post » Mon Aug 25, 2014 3:03 am

I had been playing a heavily modified version of Fallout 3 on my laptop, when the hard drive died. Fortunately, I had been playing off an install on an external hard drive, although I did lose all my saved games. Anyway, upon acquiring a new hard drive, I tried to play Fallout but a terminal window pops up, then closes. This then repeats until I restart the computer. I can't even CTL+ALT+Delete my way out of it, because the program opens and closes to rapidly. This is a Steam install.

I realize a specific problem may be hard to pin down, due to the fact that i have multiple mods going on, but the only thing that has changed is the files in My Documents associated with Fallout 3 (I think the .ini file?). It's been a while since I set all the mods up and considering how long that took, I'm not super eager to start over. If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful for you assistance.

Technical Information:

Windows 7

8 GB RAM

GeForce 9400 M

Main Mods:

Fellout

Wanderers

EVE

Mart's Mutant Mod

Are you starting the game from the launcher or a mod manager? You will need to start the game from the launcher so that a new .ini file is generated.

Have you tried to start the game with no mods active?
