Fallout 4 DLC Discussion Thread

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 10:31 pm

Hey guys I just read an http://gamingprecision.com/2015/11/fans-will-help-shape-the-dlc-for-fallout-4.html on how Todd Howard in a way wants to involve us in the DLC making process. And I think it will be important to create a thread on what we would like to play in future DLC and post our ideas that we think will be most beneficial to the base game.

You can post what new features you would like to see, or perhaps new weapons or creatures that should be added. I'm going to post my ideas as well and update the original post with some of you guys ideas and when I add it I will credit your name next to your idea. Happy Hunting :disguise:

Table of Contents

  • Most Requested: A section with the most requested ideas that people really want to see in the DLC.?

?

  • ??Ideas List: A section with a lot of fruitful ideas from the fans of this game and are broken down into sections. *As Listed Below*

-Creatures

-Features

  • New Areas to Explore: A section that list locations that people would like to visit and explore.

?

Most Requested

  • Expand existing map's borders for more areas to explore.
  • More items to use for settlements.

Ideas List

[Exploration]

- Large exploration similar to point Lookout as well as adding content to existing areas similar to Dawnguard DLC.
*Credited to user LateWhiteRabbit*

- Add areas that are near Boston such as the lake area where Boston gets its drinking water, or the twinkle factory west of Boston, or even visit nearby States.
*Credited to user Molasar*

- Return to the capital wasteland.
*Credited to user Kingdud*

- Something similar to the Pitt where we leave the existing area to visit a new location.
*Credited to user TrevorPhilips*

- Underwater Facilities, ships, or caves that we can access via our power armor or maybe even an underwater vault!

*Credited to user TacticalAce*

- Underground Networks with massive underground colonies originally undiscovered. New forms of mutants creatures and secrets.

*Credited to user Haggar*

[Content]

- I would like to see weapons systems added to the power armor such as rocket pods on the shoulder, or a shoulder cannon similar to Predator.
*Credited to user TacticalAce*

- The addition of new structures buildings and textures for settlement building mechanic.
*Credited to user TrevorPhilips*

- Add more names for Codworth to say.

*Credited to user Sacredless*

- Add more forms of transportation such as light vehicles or animals.

*Credited to user Sacredless*

- Return of classic weapons from previous games in the series similar to the "Gunrunners Arsenal Pack" from the New Vegas DLC.

*Credited to user Thenightgaunt*

- More Companions as well as flesh out existing companions even more(as a free upgrade).

*Credited to user DemonsBlade*

- Specialized NPC's for settlements that are professionals at a particular aspect of the settlement and can offer expert assistance and ultimately allows for better built equipment. For example, a military veteran that knows how to build better turrets and tells you what materials you need to do it.

*Credited to user Fool1977*

[Creatures]

- If areas are expanded I think adding the http://www.zoonewengland.org/franklin-park-zoo/our-animals will be cool, imagine a bunch of irradiated creatures that broke out of the zoo and populated the surrounding areas. This idea opens up the door for creatures that are not native to the land.
*Credited to user TacticalAce*

[Features]

- Ability to craft ammo.

*Credited to user KingDud*

- Add the ability to Dual Wield. Players could either one weapon in each hand or hold a utility item such as a "radiation shield" in one hand and a weapon in the other.

*Credited to user Sacredless*

- Add a hardcoe mode that allows for eating, drinking, and sleeping to survive.

*Credited to user moonracer*

I want large exploration DLCs, like Point Lookout in FO3. I definitely do NOT want one-off adventures like Mothership Zeta, Operation Anchorage, etc.

I'd like to see a DLC incorporated like what Bethesda did for Skyrim with Dawnguard. A DLC that adds lots of content to the existing world map.

Hmm... Well, we need to go out to Cape Cod and Martha's Vinyard, of course, assuming we don't already do that. I haven't played yet.

Out between Worcester and Springfield is the big lake where Boston gets it's drinking water. That could make for a creepy Point Lookout sort of thing.

Hey! The Twinkie factory is a little west of Boston. Maybe they could put the Fancy Lad cakes factory in it's place.

For sheer beauty hiding danger, how about a trip to Lake Winnapasaukee near Laconia, New Hampshire? It's awesome. There's even a big paddlewheel steamboat and a Boardwalk. Now that I think about it, that's more of a Point Lookout kind of place.

How about a trip to Rhode Island?

I'd have to agree with the Mothership Zeta and Operation Anchorage point, I'm not a fan of small condensed linear adventures within a Bethesda game with the exception of being within a single quest, but not an entire DLC that revolves around that concept.

Ooohhh!! I got it!!

Remember that other alien ship that you shot down in FO3? We watched it crash, but don't know where it landed.

Maybe it landed in Massachutsetts!

Most of it is nothing more than a crumpled, charred heap, but maybe something survived and spilled out of that heap. Maybe we get a signal from Mothership Zeta asking us to head out west a bit and investigate. That takes us out to the big finger lakes region where all kinds of crazy crap is happening.

Sound like this is a great idea but It might be a spoiler for people that still havent played Mothership Zeta, If I can find a way to add spoilers so that cant be seen up front I'll add it to the "Spoiler Content that could link to Fallout 4" Section. That way you still get your voice heard in the main post as it gets longer.

But in reality you are one of the first to post so if Someone from Bethesda Scrolls down a little they will see this post :P

I'd say an expansion like The Pitt and more options/textures/structures for settlement building. Also how do us fans send them feedback, on the Fallout 4 official site?

Ok sounds pretty interesting to me, I really like the idea of expanding the map to nearby areas and adding flavor to them. I'm not from Boston but I got this idea of adding the Frankilin Park Zoo to the DLC if they go the route of expanding the map.

I would like to know how far it is from the city and is it a viable distance?

More diversity on settlements will come with mods, I kind of hope that they use all of their time on story content, features, new weapons and enemies.

Indeed! First DLC will be the first mega-patch of bug fixes pulled from modders' work and will cost $9.99 on Steam!

I would second this. I like it when DLC either expands the existing map or in some way creates new and interesting ways to explore the existing space. I much prefer this to DLC that takes us to an entirely different (smaller) location.

That said, I would love to have some Martha's Vineyard DLC...as long as the the raiders we get to shoot there are all yuppies! B)

Great thread, man. This was needed.

I agree with what you already have listed in your OP, but I do want to add somthing similar to the Pitt would be great. That place was dark and really captured the worst outcome of post-apocalyptic society.

Here's a controversial one; the return of a mod store specifically for Fallout 4, with good quality control. Perhaps modders could even gain access to stuff like voice actors if their mods prove popular enough.

I'd like DLC that allows dual wielding, including ballistic and/or radiation shields and one-handed utility items to use while dual wielding. Name it "Akimbo" or something of the sorts (for those who don't know, "Akimbo" is a video game term for using two one-handed guns at the same time), but emphasize that two guns in the hand are not better than one. A modder can probably make this, but it won't be as smooth as when the company itself devotes resources to it.

I'd like a patch that allows me to return dialogue trees back to form like in New Vegas; unspoken dialogue versus spoken dialogue, dialogue menu versus dialogue wheel. Where possible; I imagine that there are cutscenes where text isn't a viable alternative.

More names for Codsworth! This would purely be a voice acting DLC, allowing Codsworth to know more names to call the player by. Not sure how expensive that would be. Heck, it probably would be hell for whomever has to voice act the thing. Actually, I'll add more to that; make DLC where Codsworth is voice acted by a different actor if you choose certain names for your character to break up the monotony.

I'd love DLC for a balisong animation. I'd animate it myself, but that stuff's very hard and I am sure that the animators of Bethesda would be able to do it a hundred times better than me.

I'd love DLC that allows us to use some of Corvo's abilities in place of the VATS from Dishonored. It doesn't have to be all the powers, but I regret not having had enough mana in that game to make epic combinations of powers. Heck, have the Outsider appear to us at shrines and let him remark on the way the player plays Fallout 4.

Vehicles would be awesome. I don't hate the fast travel system, but Fallout has the kind of post-apocalyptic wasteland I'd love to cruise around in on a motorcycle. Use the crafting system to let us make Mad Max-like monstrosities. All of that, provided that vehicular combat doesn't eclipse regular combat. So, restricted to light vehicles and animals or something of the sort. With the excuse that all large vehicles were plundered for parts since nobody wanted to waste fuel or risk radiation poisoning driving anything larger than a Flea.

TL;DR:

  • A mod store for mod creators to get paid and special access to resources like voice acting.
  • "Akimbo"; a DLC all about using two hands to hold two items, including ballistic shields and one-handed utility support items.
  • "Revenge of the Dialogue Menu"; Should be free, but, a DLC that returns the dialogue system mostly back to format to what it was in New Vegas and Fallout 3.
  • "Codsworth Payday"; Purely voice acting for Codsworth, adding more names to the ones available, potentially adding more voice actors to share the burden of voicing so many lines.
  • Anything that includes a balisong; that stuff I will never be able to animate smoothly.
  • "Outsider's Comedy"; A DLC that includes a perk that allows the player to play as someone blessed by the Outsider from Dishonored. It changes the VATS to include some of the powers used in Dishonored.
  • "Wasteland Cruiser"; A DLC that allows the player to use light vehicles and mounts. Should minimize the benefits of vehicular combat for balance issues.

1. More settlement items. I'm really enjoying the whole settlement concept but I was a little disappointed in the options. Mostly, I think all of the wood buildings look terrible (how hard is it to place one board directly on top of another) and the metal buildings have too many struts and etc that get in the way of wall objects. What I'd love to see would be a Hearthstone style expansion that adds a lot of building options and even more pre-fab shacks and so forth. Plywood sheets and bags walls to create a closed-in house, or "pre-war luxury" for an attempt at rebuilding old buildings or trying to roughly match their style. Also, Brotherhood of Steel style prefab living units and guard posts. There are a lot of options there for expansions.

2. Old Weapons. The new pipe rifles and pistols are great and very setting appropriate, and the mod system give the current weapons a lot of variety. But I would love to see the old weapons from earlier fallout games make a return. I'd love to see the Chinese Pistol, Scoped .44 Magnum, That Gun, and the 10mm SMG (among others) all make a return. And the ability to mod them as well would be phenomenal. While I don't know if it would deserve to be a full expansion sided DLC, it would definitely work as a smaller, Gun Runners' Arsenal, sized item pack DLC.

Bethesda mentioned free content with their updates and that our input would determine what gets put in: I'd like some more female companions, or for them to further flush out our companions.

Quests related to the companions, as well as more dialogue and ways to interact with them would be fantastic as something to put in.

As for actual DLC, I would hope they stick to expansions like they have been doing, although I feel their Fallout 3 expansions were superior to their Skyrim expansions. Additionally, make it so that we can get more out of our expansions. I know I really liked taking Serana as a companion after Dawnguard since the rest of Skyrim's were pretty flat.

I'd like "Specialized Settlers." In other words, each settlements attracts a small number of more fleshed out named NPC's who will provide quests, and/or unlock new building options.

Let's say "Joe" shows up and notices you have some turrets set up that you think are hot stuff. Well, as it turns out Joe has experience in some other settlement or military or whatever and says that if you go out and find nuclear material, steel, and so on, he'll show you how to build a really awesome turret. You go out and get the stuff and then when you get back and talk to him again you'll have unlocked a new bad ass spent uranium cannon turret. Just an example.

Absolutely. Cape Cod, and/or Martha's Vineyard and/or Nantucket would be great staging areas. Preferably all three; just one giant map expansion with ferry access to the other islands.

Lower the carrying weight capacity.....

You should not be able to carry 17 weapons and multiple pieces of armor and clothing.

And with console commands.

Which means that it wouldn't even be a mod, much less DLC. It's already possible to lower your weight limit if you want to.
