Fallout 3 does not go on

Post » Sun Jan 09, 2011 1:45 am

Heyho,
I just started playing Fallout 3 after some installing issues and DVD reading problems.
But now another problem just followed.
When i start the game, it takes a while, then i can choose my gender. After that, my dad says: "Oh we got a son, a beautiful son", the doctor stands up, and then the game just wont go on.
I can cry as the baby, i can open the menu, but it wont go further.
Then i asked my friend to give me a savegame just after the birth. Now im a child, can walk around, take my teddy and stuff.
The task is to walk to my father and press "E". But when i just do that, the same problem occurs. I can talk some kind of "dadada" open menu, the natural movement of my dad and me is there, but it doesnt go on.
Does anyone have a solution for me?
I didnt try to reinstall, cause i have to do that with another PCs DVD device since my DVD device cannot read the DVD.

You will need to provide the rest of the problem report information. The locals here used to think that a DxDiag Report was enough. I disagree. You can look up my "Trouble Shooting" thread to see what I suggest instead (it's in the Fallout: NV hardware discussion forum).

Are you running it on an older PC? The reason I ask is this: I had the very same issue with my PC version. My copy of FO3 was a GOTY issue and it had all the updates and patches applied. My PC system did the exact same thing. Quite frustrating as you can imagine.

My solution was a new PC. I realise you may not be in such a position to make an investment like that. I'm just saying that the new PC was my solution. (I was in dire need of a new system anyway as my old Dell was over 4 years old and was to its capacity for upgrades).

Respectfully. :tops:

There are some things I think I found out...
First: The fact that i installed the game via WLAN with the DVD device of the other PC, could there be some kind of random package loss that cause a defect in the files?
Second: The fact that the game just stops, i think it could be a kind of script defect and is maybe related to the package loss problem cause of the network-installation?

I have same problem and solved whit this (thx to starforce9 user):
Open up the .ini file located in My Documents>My Games>Fallout 3. *Do not alter the one in the actual game directory labeled Fallout_Default_ini*

In the FALLOUT.ini find the line

bUseThreadedAI=0
change the 0 to a 1

then below it add the line

iNumHWThreads=2
