Fallout's Effect on TES

Post » Sun Mar 07, 2010 7:55 am

This is something that has been brought many times before in different threads but I haven't yet seen a thread covering this subject.

I was wondering what you guys thought were the effects Fallout may or may not have on TES? From a financial and a game making perspective. Do you think the money made from Fallout would be the main funding for Bethesda's Skyrim? And do you think Bethesda have improved as a developer since Oblivion?

Discuss :)

EDIT: Does anyone know if Fallout made more money for Bethesda than their previous games?

Overall Positive effect, I think they learned alot

1. better voice acting on non main characters compared to tes4
2. better level scaling
3. better fast travel (no all cities off the bat)
4. less god-mode exploits than TES..MUCH less. overall a harder game imo.

no clue about the financial perspective.

It's always hard work and not much reward in figuring out sales figures, because you have to rely on what information studios and retailers provide. But most indications are that Fallout 3 sold better than Oblivion by a decent margin.

Edit: I could very easily be wrong, though!

Hopefully it adds real dialog, instead of just "Pick a word and listen to the NPC blather on about it"
