I watched 'Where the wind blows' after discovering Fallout 3, it's an animated film from the creators of 'The Snowman' about what life is like in the aftermath of a nuclear war. The story focuses on an elderly married couple, it's pretty morbid and saddening but a very well done movie.

The Onion just made a video asking whether or not current video games are adequately preparing children for the Apocalypse:

You could check out the video for Fallout-esqe games.

Mad Max
Mad Max:Road Warrior
Mad Max:Beyond the Thunderdome

The second and third, definitely - but I still don't see how the first one fits. Yeah it's a rather dystopian future, but he's a cop in a working law enforcement agency, there are working hospitals, there are vacationers . . . . the second movie's intro pretends it was post-apocalyptic but in the end it's a cop chasing bikers in the outback.

When I watched that i thought that as well, but its a classic and people who have OCD like me may feel the need to see the first in order to watch the second two.

Still looking for more.

"On the Beach" is very interesting book.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Beach_(novel)

It was written in the 50s so fits the Fallout theme pretty well. It is about a nuclear war that ravages most of the world, but the most southern parts of the world aren't yet affected, so mainly Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Southern Chile/Argentina. The story is set in Australia, and it is just about them waiting for the nuclear radiation to slowly travel through the air and kill them.

It hits close to home for me because they end up going to Seattle after it has been ravaged by war, and that is my home town. But, very good book.

Maybe "Escape from New York" would be nice to add to your movies list, if you've ever seen it. Snake Plissken is a classic anti-hero.

A Boy & His Dog was honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Yeah it has a slight Fallout feel , and may have even influenced the game series, but it's no Mad Max. If you really want to get psyched to play Fallout, you need to watch The Road Warrior.

That one episode of family guy where Peter is told by that chicken that the world will end when the new year begins, it does and Peter and his family explore the destroyed world.

Yeah, The Road Warrior is awesome. Love that movie. I wish one of the modders would make a Lord Humongous mod for Fallout 3. He would make a very cool boss.. :)
