I've had The Lords in my head for quite a while now.
The Lords originated with a man from the western Brotherhood Of Steel which left his chapter cause of opposing ideologies.
He aquired followers in his travels and he taught them about how energy weapons are crafted and what is needed and how to get the materials.
After reaching Mosak, a farming town that had been harassed by outlaws from Spiral Crater, they set up shop and started manufacturing their own Energy Weapons and scavenge the nearby areas for materials.
When outlaws from Spiral Crater came back to harass the people of Mosak for free food and alcohol The Lords killed them right in the streets.
The people of Mosak wondered if they were gonna protect their town and when a young lady asked The Lord about it he said "I don't care about your town, those bandits were gonna interfer with my business."
The Lords now supply the area with energy weapons, they keep Mosak and their caravans to Trade Mart (The biggest trading hub in the region) safe, but it's only because The Lords don't need anyone to interfer with their business and because they co-caravan with Mosak to Trade Mart.
At least that's what they portray themselves as, in reality they actually do care for Mosak, The Lord just don't want the people to think of them as heroes as that can complicate things when morals come into question or if they have to leave some day.
The Lord has an interesting agenda with supplying energy weapons, he supplies the nearby Militia Of Kodiak, Spiral Crater and Leason with energy weapons to keep them all at bay.
See, when you get shot with a rifle you get a bullet wound, if not critical it can be treated, but being shot with plasma? That'll melt your arm clean off (lore-wise).
So because of rising tensions between these places, he decided that the best way to keep the peace is by each of them having a knife at each other's throats, if one slits the other then the other's get slit too.
Now Kodiak, Spiral and Leason are in a stalemate because of recent skirmishes, they are too afraid to attack each other because of the destructive force of energy weapons.
The Lord knows that one day they "will" attack each other, but he hopes that the stalemate will be long enough for either The Blods or Caesar's Legion to take over the area.
The Lord himself is a tall man, 2.3 meters tall, heavily muscular build, african american and he has a stuffed bull's head as a helmet.
Others fancy to call him The Minotaur Lord because of this.
It's not for practical reasons, more about intimidation.
Leason:
Where Leason now stands there are two Vaults.
One Vault was designed to test close-space viral breakout and the other was meant to test the ingenuity(?) of carpenters and engineers and see how they'd manage in a vault where food was always distributed in new locations, forcing them to quickly build structures inside this huge vault to get to said food.
But when the bombs were about to hit, they sent the wrong people to the wrong vaults.
The pre-war carpenters, engineers and mechanics they had gathered (who all brought their own books on building crap) were sent into the viral vault while the regular randoms were sent into the construction vault (nickname).
Well, the randoms died of starvation, but they aren't important, no what is important is the other vault, see, like Justice, Leason was built on revering their books like a religion, that the only important thing in life for them was to learn their library inside out.
Until they got released however the medical team, assigned by Vault Tek, started their experiment, they were to test and see how effective a nuclear virus would be and what people would do in such a situation. They called everyone in the vault in for a medical exam where they injected the majority with a vaccine for radiation protection (bullcrap vaccine basically) and injected a handful of others with the virus.
Life went on in the vault and the medical team waited for one of the test subjects to die.
During a maintenance checkup with the vault water pump system one of the viral test subjects died, the entire room was sealed with everyone in it.
One of the others started to wonder where his wife had gone to and started snooping around when he found the sealed room, curious he asked the medical staff about it as they were Vault Tek employees.
They said it was nothing to worry about.
After two days of searching the vault in panic he returned to the medical staff and demanded answers, when they tried to sedate him he killed a couple of them with a scalpel and fled to the security office to find a weapon.
There he saw the security camera overlooking the water pump room, everyone in the room had started to melt, their bodies were barely recognizable anymore, just lumps of gooey flesh.
He ran towards the living areas and screamed about what he had seen in panic, a large group of vaultees went over to the medical office and demanded answers, when they refused they were locked up in the security office's holding cell.
After reading through the medical journals they found out the shocking truth.
The husband of the late wife killed off the medical staff before the rest could ask questions.
Worried about their own safety the ones infected with the virus were forced to leave the vault.
Since then no one had seen or heard of them.
But there was one survivor of this virus, a child growing inside a woman who had been with one of the infected.
She herself never contracted the actual virus, it was genetic and grew inside the baby, but let's return to that later.
So after about 140 years they decided to open up the Vault.
The first thing they found when they opened it was ghouls, shocked and terrified they immediately closed down the vault again.
After a couple of days the more curious vault dwellers wanted to see for themselves just what they were. Zombies? Monsters?
They opened the door and were greeted by a ghoul group who had been using the cave just outside the door as a home for a while.
After talking with the ghouls the vault came to accept them as individuals, not monsters.
Fast pace a decade and the Vault had started to emerge to the surface.
They went to the other vault and opened it up and started using the vast amounts of wood, metal and tools to build the town of Leason.
After the town had started to grow the ghouls started a caravan business to spread word of the skills of the vault dwellers, to bring in other supplies and to maintain good relationships with outside communities.
Fast pace another 2 decades and the town had become really big and 3 different carpenter factions now reside in the town, with Egot's Wood being the largest and the one in control of the supplies of the supply vault.
Fast pace another 4 decades and we are in present time, 2297.
Some of descendants from the original vault dwellers has started to leave Leason because they fear that the supply vault is running thin and they want jobs before Leason's business falls apart.
Egot's Wood is still in control of the vault but it's hardly running out of materials, after so long they've only tapped 10% of the materials in there, but Reyeil Egot III knows that if he lets everyone else know how much is still left then the other carpenter factions will want to take control of it and blod will be shed.
Blod City is where it's at because of carpenters, engineers and mechanics from Leason looking for work.
The ghouls caravan service Rotting Wheels is one of the most prosperous caravan services in the area and has helped establish great relations with human settlements, though other caravan businesses loathe them and heavily discriminate against ghouls because of it.
And what happened to the virus?
Well, when the child grew up to a young advlt age she asked her mother what happened to her father.
She explained it to her and as she grew up she had a child of her own but she felt that she was always different on the inside, like something wasn't... "right"...
At the age of 40 she told her child about what had happened and that she shoud passs the history along to her child and so forth and then she left the Vault.
For 200 years this tradition has been going on, where the parent infected has told his or her child about their condition and then left the vault.
The current infectee is Reyeil Egot III, a lot of people want him dead, but if killed then Leason and all of it's people will die.
Reyeil knows he must leave at some point but he is stubborn and won't be easily convinced to leave for the safety of the rest.
If killed then after a few days all of Leason will be dead and all that will remain are piles of of gooey flesh.
What is the virus and how does it work?
The virus is in a passive dormant state upon death of the host, at which point the virus mutates for it's own survival, breaking down anything organic around it to survive, the virus itself is like a gaslike thing, invisible like radiatio, whenever a viral cell is ready to split it actually explodes, sending the other cells flying all around.
And this virus breaks things down slowly, so it will remain in Leason for a very long time, and if something wanders into Mosak then it will gain even longer life time.
Due to Mosak being in a very desert like area it can't spread if released, so it won't kill the entire world but it is a weapon that could if let out.
Ah... I'll finish up Kodiak, Blod City, Spiral Crater and the other crap some other time if I feel like it.
Anyway I have a whole bunch of places in my head, including a trog-esque race that survives in an underground bunker by having robots do all the top-side work for them and a giant farm ownded by a group of mutants that look like mummies without the bandages.
