Since you put the poll as a tickbox, I ticked all of them :)
I've ordered the game, and it (touch wood) should come tomorrow.

They're both great, and bad, in their own ways.

New Vegas - and it's not even close.

Thank you Bethesda for reviving the Fallout franchise and introducing it to a new generation. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the wastes in a 1st person perspective, but there were a lot of areas in the gameplay that needed to be better fleshed out.

New Vegas managed to balance the gameplay a lot better and return the depth to the characters & storyline - making it a better product overall.

I've only barely started New Vegas, and I can already tell it's a far better game than FO3. I mean, toss aside a few bugs here and there, and it just seems so much more full of... irradiated life, I guess. It's still so far one of those "Chase down so-and-so" quests, but there are several underlying conflicts, major and minor, to get involved with that really give this game it's beauty. Well, that and the strangely charming desert wasteland. Oh, and this one has far less whiny "where's daddy" crap like FO3 had.

New Vegas... It just doesn't have that gloomy "zomfg dark metro I wonder what will be in here oh it's a ghoul/super mutant/molerat" feel.

Not sure yet, I found a lot to like and to dislike in both of them.
The thing that stands out the most for me though, is that Mr. New Vegas has nothing on 3 Dog.
The Mutant Radio Show was kinda neat, but got old fast and a different choice of music would have been even neater.
I like the built in playlist in Fallout 3 a lot more, pobably because I'm not really into country (or blue grass or whatever the genre is called). It fits the environment of NV very well, but unfortunately it is mostly boring for me.
So for now I tend to like Fallout 3 more, but that might change, once I've used an "add your own music" mod which will likely be out pretty soon, if it isn't already.

It'd be more like Jazz/Swing/Big Band kinda stuff. Not country. Or Bluegrass. Not even close.

Still don't know yet..

I'm just in the beginning. But I ran into my first glitch: the dog of that lady I was hunting gecko's with, his eyes were sticking out of his head!

Oh well, these are glitches I can live with. Although it makes me wonder what I'll encounter next.

New Vegas is better. I just hope they iron out "all" of the bugs.

I think when Bethesda finally ditches the horror that's known as gamebryo (unless they finally modify it to have modern features), they will create games that will set new standards.

The only problem is the consoles. They drag the PC games down. Why not simply create two modified versions?, make the console versions FPS oriented, make the PC version RPG oriented.

I put words to this effect in another thread, but think of a straight line, and a sine wave.

Fallout 3 is like a sine wave, it has tall peaks and troughs.

NV is like a straight line, its more consistent.

NV for me is the better game, it averages out at a better game - however the really good parts of Fo3 outshine it (and equally the really bad parts are really bellow NV).

I advanced a bit further in FONV and so far I like it. The writing is superior to Fallout 3's find your dad story imo, its more ambiguous and doesn't force the player to play the "good guy". The voice cast is better, I love the fact that even some robots have a personalized voice. The world is also an improvement: difficulty is somewhat tougher, settlements are richer, improved combat, reputations/traits are back, new crafting system, no more level scaling, no more crawling through endless metro tunnels, somewhat more dialogue & choices although it's still a choice between good/evil but better imo, factions (see reputation), etc.

In short it gives me that wasteland kinda feeling. Furthermore I experianced more of a quest related clueless feeling in the beginning of the game like the oldies. My major problem in FO3 was the shallow story, the autistic characters, the voice acting as well and a lot of other issues.

Besides the glitches there are a few things that were a bit awkward: 1) the Fallout 2 background music I heard sometimes, felt wrong in some areas and reminded me too much of FO2 not of a new game. 2) the karma system: penalties for stealing from hostile factions, huh??

It also took me a while to figure out how caravan worked. Even with the instructions, I was like what on earth is this?? Couldn't they just put a game of poker or blackjack in. But it's okay now that I finally understand the rules. Well I'm still in the middle of the game but it looks promising.

-------------

1. Fallout 2
2. Closely followed by FO1
3. FONV
4. FO3

Fallout 3 is better than New Vegas, its more Epic in its scope compared to Vegas. Vegas has a few one-ups over FO3 and it does feel more akin to the older games in the series than FO3, but Fallout 3 just blew every game away that had come before, a bit like DOOM set the benchmark in the past, FO3 did the same, for shooters anyway. FO3 just feels bigger but definitely the writing in Vegas is superior and I like the combat better in Vegas than FO3 but for me Fallout 3 was an epoch making game, Vegas isn't. Don't get me wrong I love Vegas as a game but I don't feel the same compulsion I did with FO3. Because if I did I wouldn't be on the internet typing this.

My Sis is playing Vegas at the mo, she thinks Vegas is better than FO3 but she thought Oblivion was better than both of them lol

I find New Vegas more epic in scope, personally. You have a big impact on Vegas obviously, but you also have a huge impact on the entirety of both the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion which are organizations that cover multiple states. In Fallout 3 your actions impact the Capital Wasteland, and only the Capital Wasteland.

Forgot one other thing: It seems to me the AI in FONV has been improved because it looks like NPC's notice fallen comrades. If so, this is also a big leap forward since FO3.

I have to agree the AI is better but I still prefer the Epic Fallout 3 and with regard to TalonFire's comments [Edit] he bested me on the other thread about the same topic, damn you Talonfire Damn you! You presented a good case for it :)

When all to bugs get fixed and some time has past, Vegas will be an epic modding treasure trove. If FO3 was Oblivion with guns, New Vegas is the series' Morrowind.

I just beat New Vegas today and I can't decide which game I enjoyed more. New Vegas' storyline/characters were much better, but the Mojave was even more bleak than the Capital Wasteland (in my opinion). Also the FO3 soundtrack is much, much better. What I really enjoyed about New Vegas was the fact that radiation/mutation wasn't the entire basis for the storyline. I hated that about FO3. I know that these things play a huge role in Fallout, but I think it was a bit excessive in FO3. I also liked New Vegas' use of faction reputation and the major locations in the Mojave, but I just felt that there was something missing. I don't know what it is about FO3, but it's on par with New Vegas in my opinion.
