Fallout 1 or Fallout 2?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:48 am

Hint, you don't have to fight everything. ;)

@billy

Wow, I always get the override, I don't think I tried it without it before. You have to love Frank, even if you crit him in the eyes for 200 points of damage he just takes a knee and next turn he's alright for another round of damage dealing! :P

I loved pulse rifle death animations, always made me smile.

Yeah, it's really easy to pass the whole temple with the preset character Chitsa - just run passed the ants and scorpions, straight to the warrior, and talk your way out of it real quick.

haha, I've always preferred the Gauss rifle ones, no matter what a chunk of the enemy would always go missing for me, good times

But the torso hole animation was for any single shot weapon. the pulse rifles was unique to the weapon :)

IIRC I think Unarmed starts fairly high unless you pick good natured. IIRC melee was in the 50's and unarmed is in the 60's

In Fallout 2, it's pretty easy to get good Unarmed and Melee Weapons skill early on because there are alot of people who want to learn you a few tricks. In the village there are two, I think, and then there's the guy at the bar in Klamath which is where you go next. I picked Chitsa, a diplomatic character with not so good combative skills, and she has 75 in both Unarmed and Melee Weapon skills due to these people who offer to train you for nothing.

PC only. Keep in mind the games are from 1997/1998 however so basically any computer will run them just fine.

I like Fallout 2 more than I do Fallout. The game feels fleshed out and it feels more vicious and aggressive than the first game. That's not to say Fallout is devoid of some truly awesome moments, like the Master.

Yes. They're extremely different from FO3/New Vegas but they're great games and some of the best RPGs of all time.

Fallout, by a long, long margin. Don't get on with FO2 at all, but the first game is wonderfully atmospheric, and features probably the greatest gaming villain of all time. Well, except SHODAN.

Yes, and they're available for a pittance these days as well, so even if you hate them it's no great loss.

If the Master didn't die by the nuclear bomb, he would have controlled the world (At least America...) and we would all have been saved.

We would all have been ugly super mutants, and we wouldn't be able to reproduce!
Unless the Vault Dweller told the Master so, and he did NOT commit suicide but changed the formula instead or something...

Still, there would probably be a lot of human resistance forces who wouldn't want to be dipped, no matter how good the Master's goals are.

But, they wouldn't be able to get to the master.

The Vault Dweller was just that lucky.

You know...couldn't the master have just used humans in breeding pits and after they had kids turn them into mutants?

I think that is what he wanted to do with the Prime Normals from Vault 13.

If that was his plan, then he wouldn't have killed himself if you told them mutants are sterile.
