Fallout 1 vs. Fallout 2

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:02 am

What do you guys think? Do you like the game that started this great franchise or it's sequel? Which is the better RPG? Personally I think that Fallout is superior because it's the original and it's a great game anyway.

LOVE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO LOVE FALLOUT SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORDS "I LOVE FALLOUT" WERE ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE LOVE I FEEL FOR GAMES AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR FALLOUT. LOVE. LOVE.

You obviously don't understand the reference, the caps are a required element of the quote.

I love them Both. I give the edge to Fallout because it started it all.

I'd say that Fallout is the better game but Fallout 2 is more fun to play. Not that Fallout isn't fun, but it's so muck darker in theme.

Fallout 1 was better put together, it was easier to understand and was very straightforward with it's quests.
Fallout 2 is bigger, but it's kinda too big, it's easy to get lost and go "What the hell was the next part of the main quest?"

So which one is better?
Fallout 1.

2 is only bigger but it comes up very close behind 1.

You win several thousand points for understanding the reference.

I prefer the original Fallout. It had a much more mysterious feel to it than Fallout 2 did.

I love Fallout 2 for its interface improvements. And for the free inclusive "Spot the bug" game that came with it, just unfortunate that they didn't include an option to play just one of the two games at a time.

Storywise though, Fallout 1 all the way.

Probably anhilating any credibility I have here but I prefer Fallout 2, not just because it's bigger and such but the actual premise of Fallout doesn't interest me; government conspiracies>mutants.

Fallout 1 vs Fallout 2 hmmm...

I wouldn't say one was BETTER than the other. Fallout 2 was funnier than Fallout 1, fallout 1 was a bit serious. Fallout 2 added in some neat weapons and the car, and the companion system was a whole lot better than 1.. As far as story goes, they both had a good story and a good main quest. I think master was a lot scarier than frank horrigan, master freaked me out first time I saw him! I can't choose between the 2 I liked both of them equally.

I prefered Fallout 1 a fair bit more then 2 namely it feels more put together and not just stuck around with duct tape, also most locations in Fallout 1 were really well designed and integrated with each other well, in FO2 it seemed all over the place like I thought San Fransico was all over the place (and to an extent New Reno...namely because the town was never really explained on how it became gambling mafia pitt...but still quite fun).

Fo1 had the fun join the master ending and sometimes just fun to join the villian (can understand the enclaves case in Fo2, but could of had more enclave endings then just oil rig destroyed)
FO2 had some really good things like seeing the NCR building up and Vault city with there sqabbles and introduced the whole slaver idea to bring some much darker things to the game series. The interfaces were much better and companions.

I love Fallout because it started it all and has a better combination of humor and seriousness that I prefer. However, Fallout 2 is just as awesome with improved mechanics, more locations, and stuff to do. They're pretty equal to me.

Well I have a question then. Who'd win in a fight The Master and his army or Richardson with Horrigan and their forces?

Fallout 2 for me. But not by a large or even medium margin - they're very close to each other - and just because I happened to play it first. Fallout has a better story and is less disjointed, but I've just grown more into Fallout 2.

I'd say Fallout 1. I love all Fallouts but Fallout 1 was just brilliant. It's probably the best game I own on PC. Fallout 2 falls to Fallout 1 by just a bit.

Fallout. Fallout 2, with its chess-playing scorpions and porm studios and Tribals who somehow have a knowledge of Elton John songs, made me faintly embarassed to play it. Playing them back-to-back, I found going from the first game to the second was like going from Mad Max to Spaceballs. 'Twas very jarring.
