Unlike speechcraft, speech is a skill that is actually worth investing in.

I was never one for mid evil, dark ages, magic filled rpgs (though I have played them) Fo3 is the best all around game I have ever played by far, its an rpg/action adventure/survival horror/ open world shooter all rolled into one, and done well. While set in a great bombed out DC area that if you live in the U.S. has breath taking moments when you see your countries most prized landmarks battered and destroyed.

The real Fallout fan base says Bethesda messed up canon and lore, but to a first time fo player you won t know the difference.

New Vegas is done by old fo developers and the real fo fanbase is much happier. It is way less of all the / / I have above for fo3 and way more open world rpg. So I depends on your cup of tea which you should get 1st. Either are worth it to try, but they r very different. I have turned many peoole on to these two games and they havd all been very happy. From shooter players to old school pc Star Wars Galaxy players not one has said they didn t like them.

:) Well anyway thanx for the little info. My most concern is this: I saw a video where he was doing some quest and when he talked to this lt. there was an option
(35speech)(lie) Blahblahblah...
So is this made like the knights of the old repuplic or what?

EDIT: Also is the scenery there like mad max or is it unique?

Fallout is completely unlike TES by any comparison ~however... Fallout 3 (by Bethesda) is practically the same game in a different setting, with Fallout inspired cosmetic changes. If you like Oblivion, then you will probably like Fallout 3. Fallout New Vegas is sort of a half step back towards the Fallout series proper [IMO], and a lot of Fallout 3 (only) players seem to have issues with it.

I'd go with Fallout 3 or the GOTY edition ~its $http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/22300/-http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/22370/ these days, and would let you know at less than ? of the cost of New Vegas. New Vegas improves on many gameplay aspects of Fallout3.

I was in the same position that you are now. I had never played a Fallout game prior to Fallout 3 and was a huge TES/Bethesda fan. I greatly enjoyed Fallout 3 and enjoy Fallout New Vegas just as much. That being said, I have already gotten used to the fun gameplay mechanics of Fallout 3 which were transferred over to New Vegas. So being a Bethesda fan, I would suggest starting with Fallout New Vegas (if you can stomach the glitches) because it has better writing, better story, and your choices actually matter. Fallout 3 is a really fun game, but I like New Vegas better.

You don't have any specific class you have to be. You are what you work your skill up as. Speech is VERY important to arrange agreements and gt info. Barter is helpful when it comes to selling things and money agreements. Luck is an excellent special to work on, it increases critical chance and you make money on gambling :) Also, you have to find each location before you can fast travel to it

Fallout 3 is very similar to TES IV in term of game play.

Of course bows and magic are replaced with guns and magic, etc.

But the gameplay is very similar.

I love TES III and IV (never played I or II), and have transitioned to Fallout very easily. However, I think Fallout 3 is an easier transition, particular given its emphasis on exploring like TES III and IV.

Agree, try FO3 before playing NV; that being said, if you are game for different style of game, give NV a try.

I play both and...

There's plenty to explore. You *will* learn about guns. FNV has some very compelling writing. You can have permanent companions and take them everywhere throughout the game. If you're not on hardcoe they won't die. If you take low Intelligence there's some funny dialogue...but not that much and the points you allocate when you level up will be lower.. High Charisma is good if you like to talk through conflicts instead of just guns blazing and it's good for Companion Nerve, which makes them stronger. High Luck is good because you'll gamble in New Vegas. It's a huge map with lots to do. I've played 7 games and never do everything in one game. I hope this helps. Right now now I'm playing FNV, Morrowind and Oblivion. I love the open world games. And thank you for the fishy stick. :)

The scenery is totally unique to fo. Debates are waged on how the fo scenery and setting is used, but either way it is unique.

Though the war took place in 2077, there is a 50s favouring time split. So 90% of the stuff in the game looks 50s or what people in the 50s would think they look like. Like high tech weapons that are not real now look like what 50s people would think, not what we would think they look like.

Like somone elsd said go wity the fo3 GOTY (all dlc included) edition I you choose that one first. That one should stir your imagination to a point where you ll get fo nv, and even old fo to learn the story of the game. It should make you want to know more unless you r totally turned off by the whole idea.

Like I said it s little of all of those rolled into one if you never played an fo ever. I was scared and lost in the metros, and a supermutant or some ferals were kind of creepy. You have to imagine it a person like me s perspective that had no idea what fo was.

not to mention Ghouls have gotten a lot scarier in NV, the new soundpack for them is... unnerving, to say the least.

Look kid the person asked about fo. I gave them the run down best I could so they could make an informed decision on which they might like more.

If I wanted it to be a vs tread I would have posted something dumb like you did about being bored.

See if I wanted it to be a vs thread you would know it, because I know what pisses people off. It would have already been a vs thread before u put your little remark in ok kid.

Bee, I can add that the color palette for FO3 is much darker and by that I mean lots of gray. It's a bombed-out city when you're in D.C. and there's not a lot growing anywhere else. This helps to set the mood...the tone. It feels more apocalyptic. The bombs didn't fall on Las Vegas so there is more color there. It has its bare areas because it's the Mojave but FNV does have more color. If this makes a difference to you, that may help you decide. Oblivion and earlier had more color. FO3 and FNV are not a continuation of the same storyline. FNV takes place 3-4 years after FO3. I hope this helps you some more. :) I love them both.

Oh, and I thought the Ghouls in FO3 were plenty scary...watch out for the Reavers. :o

The FO series is a totally different experience and I think at least worth giving a try. These games have
all the exploration and just hugeness that TES games have they are just way different locales. I have
known ppl that will only play TES and other who will only play FO, but I for one think that if you like one
the other can be thouroughly enjoyed.

The environment in Fallout 3 is similar to the Ashlands in Vvardenfell without the storms. Replace the lava with radiated water.

If you like a really fun post apocalyptic game with lots to do and tons of places to explore i`d suggest u get F03, but if u like a boring game wih very little to do,no random encounters, very few places to explore, and lots of boring talking then NV is your game

No biased untruthful sayings there :spotted owl:

What I said were kinda facts, comapring the two games you'll notice the lack of places to explore, the amount of enemies, no random encounters, and less jawdropping moments
