Fallout 3 Freeze after a few minutes of gameplay

Hi, I've been trying to get fallout 3 to stop crashing for the last 3 or 4 days. It seems like this game is really really unstable judging by the amount of threads and people having this problem with the game, so I take no joy in adding ANOTHER thread about it. However, after spending at least 10-15 hours just trying to get this stupid game I just bought working, I have no choice but the plead with anyone out there that might provide me with relief.

When I try to play the game, it freezes in game after about 5 seconds to a minute. This began when I left the vault. If I reboot my computer, the game runs find for 5-10 minutes before it crashes. Not sure what rebooting is doing to give me these extra minutes of game play.

My specs are:

"Echomani mini-top"
Intel Atom D525 Dual Core CPU 1.8 GHZ
intel NM10 + nVidia GT218 GPU
4 GHZ SO-DIMM DDRII (RAM)

The drivers are all up to date for the video card.

I've tried changing the fallout.ini and changing the number of processing threads, I've tried disabling ffdshow, I've tried uninstalling my video drivers and reinstalling them, I've upgraded fallout 3 to 1.7,

tried running as admin with compatibility set to Win XP service pack 2, (disabled visual themes). It seems like I've tried everything.

I can get Elder Scrolls Oblivion working, doom 3, quake 4, even bioshock works without freezing. Any ideas would be massively appreciated.

That svcks dude. Did you get the GOTY edition? I heard it had problems on all three way's of gaming. Hope you get it fixed :) I'm guessing I'm no help, but FO3 is one of my favs, and i wasn't sure what you were playing it on. I know it has problems if you have all the DLC's downloaded with the core game on PS3, and xbox. That could be it for the PC.
