Fallout 4 Freezes while pausing and saving

Post » Thu Feb 11, 2016 11:21 pm

I tried deleting the game and reinstalling it and still got it. So annoying. Sure hope this gets resolved fast. Everyone here has reported the issue right?

So it seems to be the same issue for everyone involved. Just to pitch in, I am having it too and it is definitely caused by 1.3 update.

Extra Info:

- CUH1208 Model of PS4

- No alterations to the PS4

- Digital copy of the game

- No Season Pass

Additionally, created a new character and the same issue persists. The saving and menu opening both freeze the game for good 20 seconds. Another thing I've noticed, but might be wrong about this: the opening cinematic seems to be rolling out a bit slower than it should be. Might be imagining this though.

I'm sad now. Waited for this patch for over a week and now this. FML. If possible, can someone from Bethesda give us an ETA on a hotfix?

Same here. Also if you let the controller alone for awhile and it starts the auto spin thing, like AFK, it also freezes for a bit too.

Hey PS4ers, if it's any consolation (which I'm sure it isn't) your Xbox One playing cousins are experiencing the same issue:

This really svcks, I hope they resolve it soon.

What is strange to me is why not everyone (on ps4 and Xbox One) experiencing it. Boys on Xbox One said that they're using external hard drives. But at least two of us here don't. I don't think it's a hard-drive related issue.

Yeah I noticed it freezes for a bit while resuming from idle as well (the orbiting camera mode).

Same here.

Got a 500GB stock PS4 from last year.

Save is 11.59 MB, Level 48 character.

It never happened when in the open or when in non-combat mode. I was doing a quest with Deacon for the Railroad inside the Slocum Joe's, and there were lots of synths. Took 20 seconds for the pause menu to appear, then 20 seconds to save the game. As soon as I killed all the synths and returned to non-combat mode I could quicksave as usual.

If anyone could check if it happens inside buildings only/or in combat mode would be great.

I tried it and can confirm a freeze after resuming from idle as well.

I've read somewhere else that playing a bit fixes the issue, so far it didn't work for me.

Also reinstalling the game didn't solve the issue either.

If I do load game instead of continue it does load faster, or manual save goes a bit faster for saving. Entering and exiting the save screen is still painfully long...

Same issue here..

10-30 second freeze on pause.

10-30 second freeze on autosave.

10-30 second freeze leaving idle.

10-30 second freeze on fast travel.

The update bricked my game, I'm irate.

Ps4 stock.

Digital copy.

Level forty something.

Freezes in all locations.

I've tried to restart the game and my Ps4, doesn't help.

Any time estimate on a fix? Even a temporary fix, like rolling back to patch 1.02, would be wonderful. To me, the game is unplayable in its current state (that's my opinion, of course.) And I really want to play!

Read that on an Xbox One thread. Gotta try it myself and, if it works, this is a solid lead to the issue and a workaround we can use to play the darn thing.

Edit: silentspider87, laxrick & I confirm this to be a working solution on PS4 as well. We're cooking with fire now, baby! :nerd:

Good find! Disconnecting my PS4 from the internet has resolved the issue for me so far! Devs, I'm sure this is a vital clue to patching the issue.

Oh thank god for this thread! Thought I was the only one with this problem. I started my game this morning and got a message for the update. Installed it and found my game is now riddled with these constant mini freezes while saving, accessing the menu etc.

Thanks for the quick temporary solution though. I'll disconnect my console from the internet and then try and give an update if it works.

EDIT: The solution works. Just disconnect your console from the internet and play the game. Although I would regard this as a temporary workaround for the time being. Still need an official fix from Bethesda

Guys, I just deleted my game data and redownloaded and reinstalled the whole game all over again.

I did a test run for a few minutes and there's no freezes (in quick saving, pausing, Pip Boy, etc) as you guys mentioned.

Perhaps it's worth a shot if you have time.

I use PS4 CUH-1200 series. All stock parts.

My head will explode if I have to do THAT all over again. My original installation process took approximately 5 hours (add to that the download time of about 4 hours).

Will use the offline workaround instead.

Its not the internet (universally anyway) prolly just sync, cause I dont play with internet and Istill get slow loadtimewhile saving. Myfix was to disable autosaving in settings (fast travel, pipboy, wait, sleep, etc) then you onlyhave towait when yousave yourself manually.

I will try unchecking connect to internet as well physically unplug etc because saving reallycutsinto gametime nowwiththispatch. I timed it several times it right around 30 seconds saving and 30 seconds to load options screen (to get to save).

It's got to be a syncing issue because yes mine is fine now that its unplugged (internet) i think the game patch syncing is trying to connect (even if you dont have internet) and then of course the 1.03 patch sync is messed up compared to 1.02 and previous patches.

And I think the reason thiswasnt discovered sooner is that everyone that played today was online (even though fallout isnt an online game) because we all got the 1.03 patch (have to be online) and then just started playing.

Yeah. It's not really an option when we're talking about digital version. lol.

Or just download when you sleep at night? Then wake up early to install the game and turn it off before work?

That's a good plan. Alright, I will make time for it sometime (but still hoping the fix will be here sooner).

Glad it worked for you though! I still have no idea what specifically went wrong with patch 1.3, since not everyone's experiencing the issue and the offline fix is just so bizarre.

Lol , it's due to bethesda not testing the update on ps4 nor Xbox one , befoure they put the patch out !

It's all nice that pc users get a month of testing , but Sony ps4 users get 0 days of testing on a ps4 lol
