fallout 4 freezes while sound continues to play

Hey people
So i was wondering if anybody can help
Been playing fallout 4, great game but there is a particular problem that i cant seem to resolve.
When playing, the game totally freezes, the sound continues to play but i cant do anything. Control alt delete doesnt work alt tabbing doesnt work, so i have to manually press the reset button on my computer.
This randomly happens sometimes when i have been playing for five minutes sometimes it happens when i have been playing for a while.
Fixes i have tried so far;
-updated graphics drivers
-updated motherboard drivers
-verified game cache via steam
-uninstalled the game then reinstalled it
-ran it in windowed mode with and without borderless
-reduced game settings to lowest
-stopped the nvidia streaming service
-did the steam beta patch which didnt work either
-i was using mods, mostly texture replacers for certain armors and weapons but it freezes without them as well.
I read somewhere that if i run it in stereo rather than surround then that may work but i cant as i game with a Razer Megladon headset and that is set to surround and i cant seem to change it into stero from windows (although i can set it to stero from the control box but that makes no difference either.
I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions?
My spec is below;
intel 980x
asus rampage mobo
12gb ram
nvidia palit 780ti
nvidia 480 (physx)
120gb ssd x2 (games running off the ssd)
1tb storage
1500w psu
windows 7 pro 64bit
nvidia 359 driver

OK, things to try:

Disable the Physics card for this game (not sure if you can do that by game or it has to just disabled)

Update your Sound Drivers (should have happened with the Mobo drivers but maybe not)

You have an Asus Mobo, which means you might have either Xonar or GamerOSD installed. Disable both those programs, they are known problem causers and the functionality you give up is nothing (being able to change screen res while in game and enhancing surround sound which most games do not need)

In fact, Nvidia Experience can cause issues too, so that is something else to disable for testing. Not just the Streaming, but the program.
