Fallout Game with no Vaults?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:30 pm

Simple question, every fallout game up til now has had some sort of Vault location in it. I am wondering if, in Fallout 4, it is a location without any vaults to explore.

Would you be annoyed, or upset that they did this? Or would you more or less not care.

In all honesty, it just not fallout with vaults because it keeps us entertained with the experiments done. I wish they would just make a inhabited vault

I think every fallout needs at least one vault. I love the Vaults and exploring them and would be disappointed if they were left out.

I wouldn't mind very much. I mean, I'm sure some might disagree, but I don't find it very essential, it's quite played out.

If the trend of making Vaults just dungeons presented as variations of themepark spookhouses, I'd be fine without seeing one. I mean all hail to Vaults 11 (especially), 22 and 34, but I really would like to see more of those Vaults which inhabitants emerged, used their GECK and put up a settlement similiarly to Vault City (and Shady Sands to an extent).

I hate vaults and only go in them if I absolutely have to so it would be fine by me if there were no vaults.

I'd like a Vault Tec "master vault" to be seen. Something like Vault 0 in tactics (or that actual Vault itself if Fallout 4 features factions and the setting from tactics) or the secret vault in BOS (besides the crap that game spawned I did like the idea of the "secret vault").

Prehaps the master vault could have Vault Tec remnants in it, like decendants of the executives and such. Could be an interesting new faction and we could discover some of the background to the vault experiments.

As UnDeCaf said, a Vault where the inhabitants emerged and used their GECK to create a self-efficient settlement, preferably outside the vault so they could use the inside of it to live in and draw electricity from, and the outside for agriculture, brahmin pens and trading post for wastland caravans. There'd also be something special with the inhabitants, something involving the experiment.

If it makes sense for the location I would be perfectly fine with it. Thing is, a Fallout game that has no locations nearby a population center might be a bit boring.

I was hoping for a vault that had started making a settlement in New Vegas, but I suppose the Boomers are kind of like that.

Fallout Tactics only has Vault Zero.

My problem with the Vaults is that there are only 122 of them. Yet Fallout 3 has so many crammed into such a small part of America and same with the Mojave. If we keep coming across 4-6 vaults pre-game and the games keep being based on one major American city it will grow old fast, would also not make much sense. America is huge and the vaults had to maintain the image they were built to save people. So they should be spread out through out America. At least a couple in Each State but at the rate vaults are showing up in the games, it seems entire states did not get one Vault.

I don't have a problem with Vaults but as I pointed out we need to ration them, for there are only so many to go around, and I don't know about you but to me part of that mystery/allure of the vaults is that many will be unknown. Finding Vaults still closed also has to stop. Other Vault Cities sure, doing the math there could be 15 out there.

I do hope Vaults stop being fan service for the sake of lore/canon and mystery.

I don't really mind either or. As iconic as vaults are, they aren't really that necessary. They're more or less the first-phase. Now, what I would like to see is more Vault-Cities.

Vaults are the foundation of Fallout. But personally I could live without them. Really they basically just seem to be dungeons with various enemies in them at least in New Vegas.

The only reason I went through Vault 11 was to get an item of some sort.

And honestly, I cannot remember what item it was.

Agreed but why did we need a Vault 3? or Vault 19. I am not to happy with the all ones in Fallout 3.

To many vaults showing up in the games and being crammed into such a small part of America. Six in Southern Nevada and another six in DC. Fallout only two, three if you count Los Angeles Vault. The Area of Fallout is a good chunk of southern California and the population must have been huge before the War. Fallout Two only had one new Vault, Vault 8, the other two were Vault 13 and 15. The area of Fallout 2 is southern Oregan and Northen California. Tactic just has Vault Zero, case can be made that was just a vault in name only.

Vaults are being over used.

No, we know that only 122 were built as part of project safehouse. Others like Mr.House's robot one, and Los Angeles Vault are not counted.

I wouldn't really care, but I would like to know where all the people in the wastes origin from.
So "hearing" about a vault is required for me, but I don't need to explore a vault or even see a closed vault door.

Weren't the records lost? If so, then there could be any number of Vaults around. Vault-Tec isn't exactly known for the truthfulness, so who's to say if 122 is the true number of Vaults?

I doubt there is a firm total, as the 126 was a guestimate more than likely IMHO, especially with the fact there was six vaults around DC(FO3) and Las Vegas(NV), with mentions of more spread around. Still weird none were seen in the Pitt, but it was focused on downtown, and it would be difficult at best to put a vault in a pre planed urban environment like Pittsburgh, at least that is my theory, but they did it in NV, more than likely as it was not as built up as the eastern big cities my guess.

There are 122 Vaults built under project safe house. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault-Tec_Industries

There are other Vaults not apart of the Vault Expariments.
