I've been looking around this site for a while. I know there are many posts about the freezing issues in GOTY for the PS3. But I'm starting to wonder if there is some problem with my PS3. Do I need a new one? So, basically, I'm looking for people here to tell me that this is normal stuff and offer a fix if there is one. One guy said that if I delete the game data, it would reinstall the patch...but...I'm hooked up to the internet and my game is not intalling any patches. I had like 50 hours in when I bought the GOTY edition and started playing it. I had had some freezing, especially in VATS on the original Fallout 3. It happened often enough that I started using the auto save to make sure I'd at least have it backed up to the nearest door I went through. I don't know how many times it froze for a minute or two during VATS fights, especially when there were three or four enimies around me. However, the GOTY edition seemed to run smoother with the main quest, so I was happy with that. When I strated the expansions though, MANY problems surfaced. I made it out of the mountains in Opp Ancerage, and then it started doing this really slow frame rate thing...like maybe a frame every two seconds or something. In the mothership zada, I had a lot of the same issues everyone else reports...with it getting stuck during the intro...strange red squares in front of the aliens with ! marks on them...but I made it to the end of that one. Point Lookout, however, has been awful, especially around the farris wheel. I consistently get game freezing in that area if enemies attack me. On the docks, it simple starts sputtering and then freezes eventually. I've tried deleting the game data, restarting the system, even disconecting from the internet...and it isn't helping. Is this normal? Do I need a new disk? Is my PS3 graphics card about to quit working on me? What is going on? The game is unplayable at this point becuase the exit from that expansion is on the dock, and that is where it keeps freezing up on me....around that area. Any thoughts are welcomed.
