Is Fallout 3: GotY Edition worth it?

Post » Wed Dec 08, 2010 1:34 am

So let me just say, I have played FO3. Loved it. Did pretty everything I could do in the vanilla game. I found the modding community isn't as large as Oblivion's or Morrowind's, so I sold the game. Now with New Vegas around the corner I am wanting to get Fallout 3: GotY and NV. Thing is, I'm not sure if I really want the game. From what I understand the Point Lookout DLC is the most extensive. With all the DLC's added together how much game time will that add?

So true.

On Amazon.com it's about $42 new so that's basically buying 4 DLC & get the game & the fifth DLC for free

Very much worth the money. The 5 DLC packed in it adds a bunch of great stuff from new loot, to locations, to quests. I did the same thing with my FO3; sold it and waited for the GOTY Edition and bought that instead. Can't imagine the game without the DLC now. I'd say get it now so you'll be able to enjoy it for a couple weeks without having that nagging urge to play FO:NV instead since it's going to be released really soon.

I agree it's definitely worthwhile. Add's a lot of replayability to the game (although the vanila version still had good replayability in the first place).

Operation: Anchorage and Mothership Zeta are painfully short. But at least you get a few cool (and overpowered) items with O:A.

The Pitt is OK, interesting storyline.

Point Lookout is the best, a new area (reasonably large) to explore and some new interesting quests.

Broken Steel ruins the original ending (which was not very good as it was) and adds ridiculously overpowered enemies, plus a few new quests mostly combat-oriented.

But, hey, you get a few more hours of game time.

The DLC's are worth the money and it is worth giving some time to play it.
