Fallout 3 Goty error

Post » Fri Jan 28, 2011 2:07 am

Hello, I'm having trouble getting fallout 3 goty edition to work. Well, I'll explain it in the best detailed way possible. Alright, I used to own the regular edition of fallout 3; it played on my computer all fine and dandy. I picked this game up and un-installed fallout 3 and kept my saves. I installed fallout 3 from the first disk included; the game worked perfectly fine. I downloaded patch 1.7 to prepare for the dlc portion.

Once I loaded disk two and installed it, my game immediately stopped working for some odd reason. Whenever I start the fallout 3.exe, it will load and then crash to the desktop. I took the mods off and the problem was still there for some odd reason. I had to un-install the entire game itself and load up disk 1 just to play the normal version of fallout 3. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. I know for a fact, it has something to do with disk 2, it must be doing something to the game that is corrupting it or I need a certain file in order to get this game to work with the dlc.

Hi lurker i had the issue where i had tried to manually patch and i was getting freezing. Little did I know and i bet you dont know this either. The GOTY Edition has the update already on the second disk. Try uninstalling and reinstalling without manually updating and see if that helps.

Make sure you update your Games for Windows Live software from Microsoft, the version that comes with the game is outdated and will cause problems with the game. I couldn't boot up my GOTY version until I did that but it was fine afterwards.
