When in doubt, buy it for both systems and see for yourself.

I doubt the game would look better on one or the other, so it might interest you that when mods become available for the game, they'd come to the xbox first since it will have mod support but the ps4 is still up in the air as far as when or if it will happen. This could possibly include graphical fixes and improvements such as textures, shading/lighting, and meshes. I far prefer the ps4 but xbox wins this time.

And if you're really concerned about graphics and want to really push them, pc would be the way to go since you can upgrade hardware and there will be way more mods, in number and in quality...if you have the money to fund such a pc haha.

And the game is 28.1 GBs on the xbox and it will be the same size on the ps4, the ps4 isn't getting better textures or extra stuff at all.

I'd expect the game to look and play the same.

Well Bethesda has now confirmed certainty that Fallout 4 mods will be going to PS4 but they will be going to Xbox first. As for graphics we'll have to wait and see comparisons after launch but generally speaking 3rd party games tend to look better on PS4.....even in cases where both games are "1080p" there were other issues like details being removed to accommodate the higher render or fps dips. So console wise to ensure the best performance I'd say go PS4 but know that PS4 will be the last to get the mods.....I'm ok with that.

Here's the link to the September 9th blog where Bethesda fully confirmed mods are going to PS4: https://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/fallout-4-launch-and-beyond/2015/09/08/22

"We’re especially excited these same mods will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation 4."

As for PC.....no thanks. I would never choose PC over consoles even if I had to sacrifice mods....not unless a game releases fully DRM-free like through GOG for example, and since Fallout 4 is not releasing as such and Bethesda has expressed explicit plans to treat all PC gamers as thieves by default, no says I.

Pete Hines has said there is no much difference between either. If it were me? I would go PS4, but thats because I am a playstation guy and I like the dualshock layout more. Buy it on the console that you like more, whether it be because of the controller or anything like that.

*cough* or buy a PC

As for PC, you cant hate a company for at least trying to protect their product. Than again, I have no issue with using steam, it holds all my games, i can chat withfriends easily and great sales.

The part where I can't play my game wherever I want, whenever I want. Have you had to go a year without personal internet and Steam's Offline Mode derping out less than a month in making all Steam games unplayable until you connected to the internet again?

Without internet your library is only good for about a week or two before you lose access to all your games if you previously switched Steam to Offline Mode when you were still online.....if not then you're SOL and your games are done for with immediate effect upon disconnecting from the internet as Steam can't actually be switched to Offline Mode if you are offline.

I think it'll play the same on both consoles. As others have pointed out, Xbox will get access to mods before ps4.

I can't say anything about "looking better". I own (only) a PS4. My brother has X One. I've noticed no visual difference between any of the games we both have respectively. However...

Function wise, I'd say X Box.

The Mod thing, imo, for PS4, is still very much in the air. If I had a dollar for every time PS said something was "coming" I could buy every one of you a Pip Boy ! I honestly don't think it'll happen. Bethesda wants it to happen, no doubt, but I want my neighbor to paint his water stained puke orange house too.. Seriously it's gross. He's content with it though.

Then there's the management. Save files, particularly. I know for every other Beth game I've had many saves. Sure it'll be the same here. Just looking at them is a chore on PS and I'm already stressed out about how much time I'm gonna spend shuffling them around between HDD, USB, and cloud. The latter two having no info on how much space is being used. (Whoever can tell me how to find out how much space I have on m y PS cloud, will be my hero. There's gotta be a way...?)

There's a few other things, like no way of knowing if there's a disk in my system, but I felt those two are the most universal.

The Xbox 360 Xenon graphics chip were slightly more powerful than the PS3 RSX graphics chip, which resulted in the 360 usually looking a tiny bit better in the vast majority of multiplatform games (extreme examples would be Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta and Skyrim).

Now things are the opposite.

The PS4 graphics are slightly more powerful than the XB1 graphics, which so far made the vast majority of console multiplatform games looking better on the PS4. Actually, I don't know of a single multiplatform game that look or play better on the XB1, but it's quite possible I've missed something.

But I'm talking about really small differences here, you will not often notice the differences unless you play them side by side and really try hard to see the differences.

So I'm guessing Fallout 4 will run a tiny bit better on the Playstation 4.

Slightly better, but the difference is 1080p @ 60 and whatever the hell distance-30FPS thing that was Halo 5.

I will be playing on Xbox One since I do not have a PS4. I will get it for the PC later when I have a better PC and possibly for mods. Xbox One I do not know if I will bother to get mods. It all depends on much fun I am having with the vanilla experience and it also depends on what mods are out there on the console.

You keep saying this but we know the only footage that has even been shown was on Xbox. All of the E3 stuff was recorded on Xbox. Copies of the game have leaked out for consoles and it is not "broken" so stop with this [censored]

PS4 will probably look slightly better, but the difference would be too small to notice. At that point you just have to decide for yourself which caters to your preferences the most.

Do you want to play Fallout 4 on a Xbox One controller or Dualshock? Do you prefer the Xbox One's UI or PS4's? Do you care about getting mods first or can you wait?

But in all honesty, if one cares that much about a game's visuals or mods, they should probably just invest into a PC.

The difference between ps4/xbo won't be noticeable unless you whip out a magnifying glass, like most games.

If you want an actual difference you'll have to go PC and it's super evil and hard to go around DRM that just makes it impossible to even think about playing games!
