Fallout 4 has sold over 2.5 million copies on Steam already

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 4:38 pm

In under 6 WEEKS, taking into consideration Witcher 3 has just about scraqed over 1 million steam sales in around 6 months, pretty strong numbers for Bethesda.

Cool, this will inspire Bethesda to make more Fallout! I just hope it doesn't take them as long next time.

Yeah, but it's Steam. Who cares what the "Master Race" is doing. Unless, of course they can convince Bethesda, Sony & Microsoft to release all their mods to consoles. Then I love the "Master Race". :bolt:

i preordered SWBF with FO4 back in August, man how i regret that

i still haven't even downloaded it and can't get my money back, what a piece of trash it is...

i really hope SWBF fails like it should and everyone at EA is svckin the big one through the holiday season while FO4 and Todd Howard jus knock it outta the ballpark xD

svck a big one EA! xD

Can I get my next TES first? I love Fallout, but ESO really isn't fulfilling my need for Nirn duty.

Oh come now. SWBF isn't that bad. Sure there's no plot and the mechanics are awful, but the graphics are pretty. Apparently, a game can be as bad as it wants to be, as long as the FPS and graphics quality is good. So sad. I too was hoping SWBF would be good, but kind of knew it wouldn't, so only bought a copy for the other 1/2 (that remains untouched).

after playing multi fps' for like ever xD, including all the slam dunk EA Battlefield titles going back to 1942, i won't even degrade myself by touching that game, not only is it an insult to their franchise and gaming in general, but it's an insult to the software industry; i could go on for a while about how much i dont like EA, the SWBF release, their fraudulent marketing, and the bogus return policy, but i dont feel like getting the moderators' undies in a bunch xD

I am surprised it didn't make GOTY. I am thinking that it may have done if it had been out longer and people had time to make a true judgement on it.

SWBF probably doesn't have a broken dialogue system, no real choices, a "medium-sized map," "not enough content," utterly crappy AI, and complete failing as an RPG though, does it?

Thankfully, owing to Bethesda's secret mind ray . . . erm! . . . I mean "marketing blitz," these impediments shall have little impact on the steamroller of the 2015 holiday season known as Fallout 4!

Rumors. So tough to love, but one circulating among those in the know says Fallout 4 shattered records:

-Record pre-order sales

-Record week sales

-Record games sold (I'm hearing 10-20 million worldwide, some speculating 30+ :o)

Bethesda won't toot its own horn.

If it were me, I'd be going "In your face, GTA! In. Your. Face!"

Who cares whether it is pure "rpg". Most people can't be asked with trying to get their head round some complex point system. They prefer the gaming experience to present itself more naturally. The biggest audience for games like Fallout and TES come from it being openworld the same way they buy GTA V just as much. If rpg mattered, more would have bought Oblivion after playing Skyrim

I seriously think Beth should consider doing what they did with NV and give creative development control to Obsidian to develop a couple of the DLC. So they can begin focus on TES VI: Alinor--the Genocide of the Aldmeri Dominion. Or even the entire Akavari continent. That 's one place they've never visited explicitly in any prior TES game releases.

other than the open world adventure/questing aspect, Witcher and Fallout are completely different universes. Historically, fantasy RPGs have always fares superior to post apocalyptic/survival genres tbh.

But that being said, the best such post apocalypse RPG continues to be Last of Us. Shame it was limited to the PS platform though. That would have definitely increased the sales revenue for that franchise. Because based on the youtube playthroughs I've seen, it was a really solid game.

lol

Yeah, they probably won't do that. Publicly anyway :)

I do think now would be a good time to invest in a larger team, so they can release games quicker than 4-7 years.

True. They are only limiting their sales. I would definitely buy Last of US if it were released to PC.

One of them is mine, I feel proud of myself when I contribute to make rich the people who saved Fallout from the grave and brought it to the glory they deserve 100 millions sales just for that.

But F4 has all those things! That's why I bought it! It's a Bethesda game, after all. I would expect nothing less.

And I'm loving it!

Okay. Quit it. Now I REALLY want my TES. Hope it's the Genocide Committed by the Aldmeri Dominion since I love playing an Altmer and hate all humans. Of course the Akaviri thing presents some interesting possibilities too.

Okay, enough talk about dreams. Back to the reality of F4! Go team! Way to go Beth!

Let's see, what can I complain about next... hmm...

Of course it was. That's why it was a joke with the silly emoji after it. Actually I'm jealous really. I only wish I had the time for all the mods,etc... I have a killer rig with Skyrim and a ton of mods on it, but I end up playing console because it's easy. I'm lazy that way.

Plus it was REALLY complimentary at the end and I sincerely meant it. Without the "Master Race" of PC folks, we'd never get all the improvements we need. Frankly, I'm just not bright enough myself to write so awesome mods. :)

Each Bethesda game has outsold the last by a large margin. Going way back to Morrowind in 2002 which was my first introduction to Bethesda, all those years ago.

I do wonder if we will one day hit complete market saturation and there's nobody left alive who will be buying Bethesda's games who haven't bought the last one. It has to happen some day, but Bethesda has just gotten bigger and bigger with every single game they've released for quite a long time now. its quite amazing when you see a whole bunch of other companies go boom and bust with how the market is doing at various points in time but Bethesda has just stuck with what they love and have been rewarded for it.

Im really excited for mods on consoles since it means more mod makers in general, assuming that there are modding tools on consoles and free sharing inbetween.

Its also not that people aren't bright enough to game on PC, its just how much you are willing to tolerate random technical [censored] and have a mind that has sponged up years of technical knowledge of how to figure out how to fix whatever you have a problem with. What I went through to get Morrowind running on my crazy advanced new Windows 8.1 PC was a giant series of steps that is just years of built up experience with this stuff. No towering intellect required here, just patience and tolerance of things being extremely frustrating a lot of the time. I can see why people game on console since it's something that is just a lot less frustrating.
