Fallout 3 has stopped working **PLEASE READ EVERYTHING**

Post » Mon Dec 01, 2014 7:30 am

Okay, so I got Fallout 3 for the PC (NOT THROUGH STEAM).

Basically, I have tried everything I found.

HERE ARE THE SOLUTIONS I'VE TRIED:

  • Uninstall/reinstall
  • Add d3d9.dll file
  • Change compatibility mode
  • I've changed the .ini files
  • Patched to 1.7

Specs and other things:

Windows 7

Intel i5 2.50 GHz

4GB RAM

64 Bit

Intel HD Graphics 3000

I've downloaded the Microsoft Games Live thing.

I DO NOT HAVE ANY DLCS.

Please help.

is it because it's an old or new graphics card? Is there a way to get around that?

I've seen places that say a certain file will 'trick' the game into thinking you have the right card.

Newer Intel cards have better support for 3d games but this game was designed when Intel Cards did not have proper 3d features. Your card might support those features but you would have to use d3d9 designed for a supported video card but you might have hardware or software issues for your computer. The game will think your system can handle the workload and if your system can not than it will put more wear and tear on your hardware or cause software issues with your OS.

If your computer is a desktop the best bet is to buy a 3d video card. It can be an older one if you do not plan on using a lot of texture mods and such. You might be limited by your power supply if looking at getting a better graphics card.
