Fallout 1 Help: Military Base

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:32 am

After many seconds of searching through Youtube trying to find the proper walkthrough, I've decided to consult the Dinosaurs for help.
All I'm wondering is how to shut off the yellow force fields, I couldn't hack the computer, but the game said to look for another way to shut them down. I've looked all over the place, but to no avail. :sadvaultboy:

All I need to know is how to shut those force fields down, so I can get further into the base.

You can shut down the yellow force fields by using repair on the emitters.

this. If you have the "tools" item i think it gives you a pretty nice bonus to repair. Either equip "tools" to you your action or right-click them in your inventory and select "use" and hwne the yellow target sign pops up left click on the force field.

A high science may also enable you to hack a computer on the first floor just below the elevator and shut them off.

I ain't no dinosaur, but OT: I got through the whole base without shutting any forcefields, there were always some red ones that allowed you to go through(but they damaged a little)

Don't know how you did it, but I would get to the third floor and find two force fields trapping me in one section of it. :\
I'll try the repair strategy.

Did you alarm the base when entering it? Because that might activate some forcefields,IDK since I always bluffed my way in.(+stealed the door code from the guard mutant)

I tanked my way through (Power Armor) and got the code of the mutants body. I came in and just killed everyone, so there must have been an alarm. :P

Anywho, I can't hack the computer, and when I use the tool on the force field emitter it says I temporarily disabled it but the field stays up.

Ugh... :shakehead:

I used subterfuge, claiming I was a new human there, the mutie let me pass, I stole the passcode off the doorguard, slipped in, subtly disabled the speakers, went to the dipping room, hacked the console and set the base to a silent alarm explosion, no casualties through combat. :disguise:

You can also use the Radio you find on the Super Mutant guards. You use it on the computer terminal and it will shut down the yellow force fields.

I was hoping I could talk my way in, being a speech oriented character and all, but they immediately attacked me, so I figured I would have to fight my way through, which I did.

Sweet, I suppose you're talking about the guards outside? I'll try that.

Well, that didn't work out too good. :(

I don't see how you "use" the radio on the computer, I try equiping it and clicking on it to use it like the tool, but it just does one of those observation things and says that there is static coming through.

Try, was it right clicking? Anyway the one that allows you to choose from skills, inventory and so. Choose inventory and from there the radio. Also the mutants probably attacked you because you had a weapon drawn.

I went to the inventory, dragged the radio into one of the weapon slots, exited the inventory, clicked on the radio, and nothing happened.
Also, pretty much every mutant in there is dead, except the ones deep within the third floor.

I meant the way of keeping the left or right(I just can't remember which ) pressed long enough(over the computer) that an list of actions appears: Skills(a pip-boy head), inventory(back bag), examine(binoculars) and all else there is. It lets you browse inventory, choose the item you want to use(without equipping it).

I hope it works. Sorry for not being that clear, I had to rush to get to class but it has got you on the right track. What OldRPG is saying sounds right. Also if it doesn't work on the computer you are trying, try the other ones.

Well, the military base is gone now.

For your help, you get...

Awesome :celebration:

LOL just went back to Vault 13 to tell the Overseer that the muties are gone, he asked me if the "Master" was dead, I thought that was the Lieutenant, which I had just blown to bits. He told me to go back out and kill him. I thought my game had glitched!

Well, once more unto the Wastes, to find this Master, and blow him to bits.
