Fallout 2 help

Post » Fri May 07, 2010 6:08 pm

I'm not that far into Fallout 2 and already I'm stuck. XD

Basically I've gone through the temple, talked that guy guarding the enterance out of fighting, spoken to the healer that keeps talking in riddles, and then on to the left side of the map.

I can hear a dog barking, and there's some lizards wandering around that I simply can't kill (they're too hard so I just run away), I can't find anything in this area bar some trees, a plank over some irradiated goo, and fallen rocks.

What am I supposed to do? :(

Are you looking for Nagor's dog? If so it should be up on the top left side of the map - past the irradiated goo
(I understand it won't be there if Nagor is dead - I don't know if it's not there if you haven't got the quest yet).
There's nothing more on that area except the geckos and some flowers you can pick up (to make healing powder)

If you're looking to leave Arroyo then that's not the way, you should go back at the village and walk south.
You'll get in a new map in the southern part of Arroyo where the bridge is, go past the bridge and you're in the world map :)

first rule is talk to everybody and then talk everybody some more :) there might be some other ppl that can benefit you there.
about the lizards, you should be able to kill the lizards and if you get hurt just run back to the healer...

p.s. planks over irradiated goo sounds like agreat place to cross and dont forget to pick the flowers.

Awesome. I'm getting to grips with it a bit better now, thanks :)

While I'm here, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the music playing? It's not playing at all, on any map. :( I've checked preferences and it's all up to high settings. Voice/sound effects work fine though...

Yea, there is a problem with the GSP installer, that is if you bought the GSP like I'm speculating. Happened to me as well. What is wrong is the fact that the installer was pointing the game to the wrong music folder. In order to fix this problem you have to:

Run:

C:\Users\"yourusername"\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\BlackIsle\Fallout2

Then go to your Fallout 2 CGF file or fallout2.cgf
right click the file, click Open With, and use Notepad to open the file. Once opened with Notepad, looks for these two entries:

music_path1=sound/music
music_path2=sound/music

After locating them, edit them by placing the word data in between the equal sign and sound.
They should look like this afterwards:

music_path1=data\sound\music\
music_path2=data\sound\music\

After that, congradulations you no longer have to be bored by hearing only the sound of your weaponry as you play this game :D .

If you have anymore problems I can try to help further...

Thank you, I've done that and now it won't let me save it. I'm getting this error:

'Cannot create the C:\program files\blackisle\fallout2\fallout2.cfg file

Make path and file name are correct'

Any ideas?
