I have the same problem too, every time I go out roaming I get tired and just shoot around for minutes and exit game. I have the PC version, and the mods make it better for sure, but I can't get FOSE working so all the best mods are denied.

But well, we're gonna just have to deal with that fact that every game gets boring as you play them enough, EVERY game.

Have you talked to Moira in Megaton? Have you visited Rivet City? Have you gone to Underworld? Just off the top of my head, there are people in these places who will give you great quests, which in turn, lead to other quests....

EDIT: What level are you? At what point in the game are you?

To start things off i would go to Megaton. Talk to some people complete a few quests, the wasteland survival guide is a great way to get acquainted with the game. Moira at craterside supply in Megaton is the one who gives that quest out.

Open up your Pipboy and look at what it says in Quests. You can either continue on with the Following in his Footsteps quest or say to hell with it and just head off in any direction you want. All the Quests in the game are pretty clear about what it is you have to do, they'll even leave an arrow in your compass and on your map so you'll know exactly where to go. So you really shouldn't have to come here looking for help, you have all that you need in your Pipboy. Oh and BTW, if you meet someone and have the chance to talk to them, make sure you explore all of the dialogue options. There might be a Quest or other objective buried in some dialogue line that you won't know about if you don't dig deep enough.

Well you can always explore! Unlike Oblivion, you can find unique weapons and armor which is very very cool in my book, it just makes exploring so much more fun. You can even find a ton of quests as well. Don't let the arrow get in your way .. :)

Ah well hopefully you made the right choice about blowing up Megaton, no spoilers from me =)
Just don't finish the main quest until you get the Broken Steel DLC installed (or just do all side quests and explore first), otherwise you won't be able to continue the game after you've finished the main quest. I learned the hard way :/

Being an "RPG", these games USUALLY come with a "quest screen".
If you navigate your pip-boy to the quest screen, you can click on a quest you want to do, and it will show you on the map where to go....

+ 1 for exploring all the dialogue boxes for quest tidbits, and for hard-saving often!!!

Auto-save just overwrites the previous auto-save, so every door you go through that has a loading screen overwrites your last auto.
If you want to go back and try a quest again or try a decision again the hard save is key.

It's a quest called the Power of the Atom, and you don't necessarily have to blow it up. Make sure you talk to Lucas Simms, the town sherriff, and again fully explore all the dialogue options. Dialogue is much more important, and complex, than it was in Oblivion. The first time you meet a character you can communicate with, you need to make sure you've explored every option or you might miss something.

I did the same, set objectives, also importantly, take a break.

I set objectives myself like, clear out a building return home and put the items away.

Use your imagination.out
