Now obviously we cant make too many judgement's concerning this topic but we do have a good idea from the trailer how they want the humor in this game to play out. Does it seem like too much? Is Fallout not taking itself serious anymore? We did have lots of humor in the past but it seemed very subtle for the most part. From the trailers it appears the Humor is more up front and in your face: Wearing lots of silly clothes, shooting teddys bears out of guns, "lets go **** some s**t up", etc. Is it just me or does it seem a little over the top?! I don't know maybe i'm paranoid, let me know what you guys think?

Did you never use the Rock-it launcher in FO3? I used it Exclusively in Raven Rock and a lot of Enclave Tesla Soldiers died to head shots from bottles.

Yes, based on a 2 minute video the entirety of the game is going to be over the top.

The full post that is referencing a single, 2 minute video made to look over the top to sell the game? Can't say I have.

Most of the video sequence had the character in normal outfits and armor. Only a few things were "over the top".

FO3 had some weird outfits too. I am not worried about it.

Nothing I saw made me concerned.

I'm sure there is going to be some very serious moments. Most of what they showed at E3 was presented so that it would be humorous.

Rules for engaging the audience

A) Show combat. A fair bit to a lot. Combat makes people gasp, makes people look at cool different types of weapons and get the laugh at the character on screen to shoot something unusual at enemy

Use Humor. People remember an event more if they laugh.

C) Visuals. Humans are visual people. Provide them a visual feast while layering it with the presenter talking and half the job is done.

I think Fallout 2 and New Vegas got the amount of humor just right. More than enough jokes to go around, all while reinforcing the idea that you're in a Wasteland.

My character won't run around in a banana costume, but I think there's room for multiple types of humor in a game as sprawling as Fallout 4. I personally prefer subtler humore, but I think it's a good thing for the game to accommodate players who want to approach it differently.

The Fallout Series has never taken itself very seriously and has always had a black comedy, tongue in cheek sense of humor about it.

That's the key word. The humor has to be black, it being a post apocalyptic setting and all. I can certainly see the possibility of them overdoing it, though I dont think they will.

When I say Black Comedy, I refer to grim humor, like Death to Smoochie. Not Next Friday.

Or Madea?

Or...anything Tyler Perry really. Not that kind of Black Comedy. There's two.

Usually some will say Dark Comedy to differentiate.

Because, do remember, at one point in Fallout 2, you could throw a f---ing severed toe you cut off your body, at an enemy.

And don't even get me started on the comedy gold that was Fallout 1 with 1 INT.

I like goofy games. For example, I choose San Andreas at any time rather than GTA IV.

I agree that in the case of Fallout, is better balanced.

All of those things are optional, you have nothing to worry about.

Personally I like the goofy aspects and always took the wild wasteland perk in New Vegas.

A mix. Fo3/FNV had moments where you'd find something really amusing, and then stumble on some really dark material/scenes. I recall one particular scene in Honest Hearts where there was a pre-war sixual assault occurring, but was interrupted midway through due to the bombs falling. You're laughing at something in one case, then you find some dark [censored] like that and just go, was the world any better before the bombs dropped?

Most of the trailer looked normal. The couple of funky costumes seem to be the minority.

I don't think we have to worry about this taking a leaf out of the Saints Row book in terms of over the top

Since you mentioned Honest Hearts: Fallout can be pretty inspirational and give a lot of food for thought.

I spent half my time in Honest Hearts tracking down the "Survivor" or "Father-in-the-cave" Randall Clark, because I found the story so fascinating.

There was no wacky humor in it.
