Fallout:"insert State here"

London or Tokyo,

London has a long history and is older than any city in North America (I.E new york, DC). It would be kinda creepy or erie to see the old land marks destroyed/battered. Also roaming the Underground would be pretty cool, lots of goals though probably :-/

Tokyo would quite cool also. Going around seeing loads of anime posters (only reason i can really think of though).

Um... Because raiders with Mohawks and football gear is SO 50s and SO NOT Mad Max? :P

Fallout is tied to 50's Americana. It doesn't matter how the people eventually branch out, 50's Americana is the heart of the game - and changing this would make it not Fallout. The developers have already gone over this with other people who have asked this question. The art-direction has always been massively inspired by Mad Max (even referenced in Fallout 1) but that has nothing to do what the soul of this game is.

Eurogamer: A lot of people suspect you're making a new Elder Scrolls game, but can you conceive of a Fallout game set outside the States, like Europe or Asia or somewhere like that?

Todd Howard: That's come up before and my view on Fallout is that the Americana is part of the Fallout schtick. It would be interesting to see what's going on over there, but if you were doing a full game over there, in my opinion it wouldn't have the right Fallout tone.

edit - Oh forget it. Nobody's paying attention anyway, I give up.

Besides North America, I’d have to say Australia, if for no other reason then The Road Warrior series, which obviously heavily inspired the Fallout series to begin with.

I'm from michigan, but I don't think it would be that great in a fallout setting. I chose Illinois because of Chicago, which is an awesome city.

Both of those polls need to be multiple choice, both Africa and South America would be badass in PA.

If anyone has anymore state suggestions I shall put it in the polls!, but I will stop updating it within the next 2 hours. Thanks everyone for checking out my topic ;]

How about Louisiana? A spooky New Orleans vibe, maybe some swamplands with mutie crocs? Kind of like Point lookout, but more gritty and southern........more True Blood if you will.

True, it's a dumb show for teenie boppers but the atmosphere (which is the only reason I brought it up) is fantastic. Hell the opening credits are gritty, dirty and creepy.

The next Fallout needs to be on an island, maybe an anonymous banana republic, hell even Cuba? Mutated sea creatures anyone?

Africa would not be good. Just cause its the poorest place in the world, there would be no metros not vaults, it would just be the same land, with mutant lions. oh yay whoop whoop

it really does need to stay in N.America. somewhere in micigan and canada would be nice. there would be one point of nterest ther i could think of already.

btw i do not know if a fallout game has already taken place in michigan but illinois for chicago and the midwestern bos would be sick plus one in detroit or toronto would be good

I would vote Texas, but http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_Brotherhood_of_Steel :cryvaultboy: :shakehead:  :yuck:

I would really like to see the city of Chicago though. Or at least somewhere in the middle of the U.S.

that is possible

but since it is diverged from the real world after world war 2 i would still suspect that africa is full of prejudice, slaving(before the nuke war), genocide, and poverty since it seems that the people in our time who are rising to the top are the people in FO that are rising to the top so i would suspect then that it would be, but yes they dont make mention of africa (i think)

They fired 77 nuclear warheads at Las Vegas and its surrounding area, I'm sure they could have spared a couple for the Islands. And I think we have some important bases over there... I think.

@Hyper Almost every where has a war background

Well in that case I suppose that Hawaii would take at least 50 nukes. Fair to say that the islands would be sunk into the sea with that much force.

Yes Hawaii. Hawaii could have many exotic stuff, like in being some parts of the tropic like valleys just like in Jurassic Park ( which was filmed in Hawaii. ) and you can go back to the city parts. And instead of Raiders there could be like radiated natives.
Also all the many cultures in Hawaii can play a cool role.

Texas would be cool. Mid Texas like Austin will be good since there is a variety of cities, suburbs, hills, lakes, Forrest areas...

Since The Commonwealth (Massachusetts) is unavailable, I voted for Canada. Ronto sounds cool from it's brief mention in The Pitt, it could also give more lore on the U.S. annexation.

A Fallout: "my home state" already exists, it's called Fallout 2.

I personally would like to see Denver and the surrounding area. Aside the fact that I live here and think it would be great to see in a video game (I'd settle for GTA, or something like Midnight Club), it has an awesome setting. Mountains/plains/lakes/highways/hills/fun destinations (arena, stadiums, train station, tall buildings, old mines around, former Rocky Flats (nuclear weapon trigger manufacturing), Boulder (environmental nuts & college kids). May not be the perfect location, but I think it'd be a lot of fun and they could get a lot out of it.

Hey I was going to suggest Denver too! I also live in Denver and feel it would make a fantastic setting.

1. DIA- The Denver International Airport is the largest airports in the country and 3rd largest in the world with a huge subterranean network that is the subject of numerous conspiracy theories. The area is so large that it takes up twice the land mass of Manhattan.

2.NORAD- I mean its the North American Aerospace Defense Command. Who would have seen the nukes coming from China first? NORAD thats who.

3.Cheyenne Mountain- (see NORAD) Throughout the Cold War and continuing to this day, the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center and the Cheyenne Mountain Directorate collect data from a worldwide system of satellites, radar, and other sensors and process that information in real time. (from wiki, so well put)

4. ADX Florence- aka. the Supermax Prison

5. The Colorado National Guard Armory-its not an Armory any more, but I could see it becoming a serious military installation in a time of nuclear fallout. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_National_Guard_Armory)

6. Air Force Academy- Colorado Springs

Those are just some major landmarks. The whole state would be ripe for Fallout-ization. In the south eastern part of the state is the Colorado desert, to the north are large plains for farming, and obviously there is the great Rocky Mountains to the west (although this may cause problems with invisible barriers :whistling: ). There is a lot of potential here. Colorado gets my vote.
