I would like to see California, but I really think New York could be done really really well. You have a massive city (NYC) and it's already naturally broken into areas for differing groups to control and you have the surrounding parts of the state itself. It would be dungeontastic (or should be) with the subway and all the high rises. You would need to be more observant, because there would be lots and lots of vantage points.

there was massive climate changes during the war and cities with low sea level (Venice, parts of florida, NY, ect) would be underwater. NY is a MAJOR target anyway so sorry no survivors.

Thanks I have corrected myself from my idiotic errors! Also what Fallout game or DLC did Chicago take place in?

It couldn't be in New York, no matter how badly we would all want it. New York was completely flattened in the Great War.

Even better, bridges from building to building. Could still be done. Hell, it's been what, 204 years since the Great War, so potential for something.

Edit - And Mr Axe, crushes my denial.

Not sure if this has been brought up in this thread yet, but some of you need to remember that Fallout relies on "50's Americana" which is really only relevant to North America, so the idea of it taking place anywhere else would be missing the point. The entire inspiration and reason the franchise exists depends on this and the developers have gone on record more than once letting people know this.

That said, I voted "New York". So much great stuff there to see in ruins! :vaultboy:

Yeah, sorry guys. There are no buildings left in New York City. Every one of them would have been flattened by atomic fire.

I think Paris would be cool, I can imagine some people holed up in the Eiffell tower or the Arc de Triomphe, and imagine doing a quest to get the elevators on the Eiffell tower working and then you can get a trip up to the top to be greeted with amazing views. Or some extreme cultists in Notre Dame or Sacre Cur. It also has a thriving metro underground.

Fallout: Paris

it would be a huge immersion problem though that they would make them all speak english...

save central park, nyc or at least manhatten, would be nothing but an inhabitable pile of rubble. it would have to be a region outside of nyc, like NJ; which would probably look slightly better after a nuclear apocolypse.

It would make a lot of sense if new york was one of the primary targets for nukes. then again, same goes for DC. i think it's kinda unrealistic that there are still standing buildings there...

and no, NOT AUSTRALIA.

I would say Africa, but to live FO: Africa all you have to do is hop on a plane headed there and boom you have a bunch of sickly humans in run down buildings and a bunch of giant wild animals trying to kill you. Machete's and AK-47's would be staple weapons of the raiders.

I vote Europe, because I personally don't want to be wandering the wastelands of Crook county Illinois.

New York is the greatest location for anything, including Fallout 4. They would probably just make it Manhattan, which is fine by me, as that's where I live. I could just imagine fighting off ghouls in Central Park, along with mutated zoo animals. Plus, I can guarantee you that as the most populated metropolitan area in the country, there would be plenty of vaults to explore. Barring that, I would like to see a Fallout set in Chicago, probably. Just no more West Coast, the area is getting stretched a little thin in terms of setting that hasn't already been established.

The Colorado Wasteland would be hardcoe. Tornadoes towards the plains, the Denver City (or Boulder) ruins, and the Rockies for some irradiated snow.

Hell, there could be a New Boulder Republic or some such...

Well DC would have gotten hit far worse than New York (Cut off the head and the body will die, so to speak). There's no need to instantly discount an area that so far has no backstory in Fallout. I'm sure New York would have survived to some degree. Who knows, they could have made vaults out of subway stations or something. That would be cool to see, actually; a system of vaults connected through a functional subway system.

Texas, I live there and will be awesome to see it, its freaking huge if they include all the states, what I keep thinking about is the ocean, freaking mutant squids and fish.
Some where with alot of natural caves, Africa will be also epic, alot of diversity in mutant wildlife.
Stonehedge perhaps?

China would be cool story wise since one could see what happened to them during the war. Seeing all the Chinese spies/equipment/etc in the game makes me curious to play as a survivor in China.

Then again, I really liked Fallout 3 because DC has so many recognizable locations, it really makes the impact of a post-apocalyptic wasteland that much stronger. Europe would fit this for me.

By the same token, NYC would be great as well, I actually liked having to navigate the DC Metro to get around, NYC MTA would be great as well.
