Fallout 1 installation issues

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:47 pm

I got a copy of fallout 1 from the 'net and when I tryed to run it, it said that I didn't have enough space, but my C drive has atleast 50 gigs. Why did this happen and how can I stop it?

Try setting compatability modes. Set it back to '98

Then try this:

In your Fallout directory find the fallout.cfg file and open it with Notepad. Note: Your file may look slightly different from the one listed below.
[system] <-----look under this paragraph
art_cache_size=130
cdlock=C:\Programs\mIRC\download\cdlock.dat
color_cycling=1
critter_dat=C:\Games\BlackIsle\Fallout2eng\critter.dat
critter_patches=C:\Games\BlackIsle\Fallout2eng\data
cycle_speed_factor=1
executable=game
free_space=20480

etc.
Change the last value to 0 (zero) instead of 20480.

I can't use the computer with Fallout 'cause my sister's using it, but I'll try that when I can. Thank you.

I didn't need to alter anything, it just needed Windows 98 compatibility mode.
