Fallout:4 Interview and Gameplay Videos Thread

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 3:34 pm

I haven't seen mention of this here, forgive me if it's already been discussed...

Guess multi-factions are in, along with skills-turned-into-perks and we're able to craft or cook chems/food.

Nice thread but I tried this before recently and even spoke to Gstaff about compiling all Fallout 4 pre-release info, interviews and videos into one sticky thread for everyone to reference.

Soon as this thread reaches the post limit, one of the mods will lock it and you'll have to keep making sequel threads linking back to this thread.

It was discussed a bit on this thread about it being stickied I never pursued the idea as I knew it wouldn't work out as the thread isn't run by Gstaff or mods. I've already prepared an archive system so with sequel threads it'll still be as efficient as this thread and you'll be able to sort the articles and such by month.

I did want to prepare a system similar to a topic that's currently going on the Bioware forum in the Mass Effect section compiling all the known information, articles, etc and it looks quite efficient so in the future I might develop a similar system instead of using spoiler tags. I've put some thought towards it and I might develop it next month I just have to consider the efficiency of it as this thread is run by a single person (myself).

Its been discussed a bit in other threads a few like myself believe there'll be a system similar to New Vegas or a much improved version of Skyrim's faction system however a few people believe that its PR spin. However it will explain why the player was attacking the Brotherhood Of Steel

I never understood why site admins wouldn't want to generate even more hype and create their own sticky thread where everyone can have a 'one stop' view of the latest info, videos and interviews. Instead, we're all scattering around to find out from other members, what's the latest news prior to release.

Its more to do with endorsing my thread as an official thread while its not managed by an official group such as the moderators or admins. My only problem is I'd prefer if people didn't make spinoff threads on the information they got from here or at least referenced this thread since its hard to keep this thread alive without constant replies to the topic. However I do have 16 people following this thread and I have enough support to constantly update this thread on an almost daily basis as soon as an article hits such as the telegraph article I update my opening post on the thread or create a breaking news post. Now that I've done patting myself on the back with quakecon coming up I'll have to be constantly updating this thread with the information that is leaked and the videos that are leaked and depending on how protective Bethesda is I'll have to be constantly updating video links as their pulled down from youtube. Regardless we'll still get articles from the event so we have a lot to look forward to and hopefully some more information about a faction system and how settlements will work.

This thread will likely hit post limit before quakecon.. you'll have to prepare to make a new one soon.

I'm already preparing for that don't worry mate  I might also be trialing a google docs format and see how that goes.

That would be awesome however make sure its not spam and on topic so we keep within in the rules of the forum and so we can create a productive discussion. Cheers mate.

We've tried that route before. What happens is that if we pin a thread and allow people to post in it and someone to care for it, often there are mistakes. With Oblivion for example, people were just sure we could have a pet and were angry when they found out they could not because it among other things were never said but assumed and ended up on the "unofficial" pinned thread. If it gets pinned, people assume it's correct and was said by Bethesda even if it's not. So we moved away from doing that and now allow a member to keep up with the thread (moderators don't have the time to do that and attend all else we do especially as release nears). These threads cared for by interested members prove very informative and a great place for members to go to find new news and discuss that news.

What needs to happen is that we should all help with keeping the news coming to these threads. Offer to assist one another in keeping it up to date and just be thankful for someone stepping up to the plate to keep up with it all. And maybe not waste anymore precious posts discussing the thread and leaving those posts for actual discussion of news. ;) I may just delete those off topic posts in a bit so this thread can have a few more on topic posts before it reaches 200. :)

Also: Pinned threads tend to disappear to the reader's eye over time.

There isn't much new to discuss outside of a few things there. Also, OP doesn't want separate threads for every bit of news that comes our way, that way discussion isn't diluted into a bunch of different threads about the same thing.

Edit* Someone should probably start a Quakecon mega-thread until it's over to keep that self-contained as well. I'm sure we'll be flooded by "look at this/that/what/where/etc." posts if we don't. I would get one going but I have to work all day so I wouldn't be able to keep up with it.

Do you have this one? It has some footage I've not seen before.

One shot in the town shows a child, so I guess those are confirmed.

Thanks for reviving the thread guys, I'll be updating this thread within two days I've just been busy with my volunteer firefighting work and becoming a moderator on a new website. But don't worry give me two days or at most three days and I'll have this thread updated. I'm also keeping an eye out for leaked info and video from quakecon.

Some Of the Crafted Weapons will be the strongest in the game, why does that line concern me. That's the exact problem that Skyrim had, the crafted weapons were by far the best in the game and broke it too. Every time I took smithing and put perks in it, I broke my game, even on Master.

I hope it's different but I remain skeptical.

consider beth not to long ago plugged one of the most common, cheapest ways to power level smithing, I think they are well aware skyrims system is flawed.

the line actually reads: some of the crafted weapons will be among the strongest in the game. (more specifically: those who craft a lot might find themselves happy with some of the strongest weapons in the game). it's a much more subtle and nuanced sentence than some of you are making it out to be. Fallout 3 had much better unique weapons than skyrim, and the lack of quality artifacts was a common criticism about the latter. I doubt we will see a "crafting tops all" balance on FO4. The weapons that you could craft in FO3 were also among the most powerful in the game, yet the unique weapons were nothing to sneeze at either. (+ considering you had to find the schematics first, it was actually a blend of "finding" somewhat unique items (schematics), and crafting powerful equipment. I'm fine if this makes a return in November)

Skyrim had few weapon types, daggers, one and two handed swords, axes and blunt, bows, that is all, you also had staffs some with cool effects.

Some artifacts has unique enchants, as most of them could be tempered they was the best weapons in the game this is unique in TES, in Oblivion and before self enchanted weapons was better.

Fallout has far more weapon variations and plenty of unique weapons, many with special bonuses.

Now an crafted and adjusted weapon has benefits if nothing else it can be adjusted to your playstyle.
