What methods do you use to level-up after you hit level 80?

I'm not even close to level 80 (58 is the highest between my 2 characters)...but after level 45 or so, I pretty much had all perks that interested me, no real method, but I just started taking perks to try them out, and adding a couple to SPECIAL...

Settlement building, jet farming, death claw hunting, raid provoking, and general mayhem causation.

Settlements provide great exp, especially because you can don your best int gear to max exp gain, of note are the copper statues you can find, which provide huge exp and can be farmed fairly easily.

Jet is also good because you can max exp when making it, and if you have built settlements up with Brahmin, as per ^, you get free fertilizer

There are several locations with high value enemies that can bee found reliably for exp farming, one is the lynn woods deathclaws, the glowing sea, several other areas.

Settlement raids can be a decent source of passive exp if you provoke thm by storing food in your work benches, which increases the odds of attacks.

Thanks for the tips. It's basically what I've been doing. Still takes quite a bit of time

Oh I see what you mean now...LOL..I thought you were asking for a method of picking perks..

well, you could always take Idiot Savant (if you already haven't)...and roam around killing stuff..

you could also do the settlement thing, where you max out build limit, and keep scrapping and building the same thing over and over...

the best exp is from radiant quests from u're faction

u can clear south boston locations - most have chance to give high lvl two shot weapons , glowing sea also

and wear intelligence gear if u are good at the game

Cook yourself some Squirrel Stew. 25% exp bonus for 2 hours. Not sure if this stacks with the Lovers Embrace exp boost but I do believe they should.

Also, settlement building and crafting. Try these while you are under the effect of Squirrel Stew, then go clear an area. You will most likely level up afterwards.

Don't have idiot savant, but heard it doesn't work so good if you have max intelligence?

The idiot savant xp multiplier won't trigger as often if you have high intellegence, but it still happens. so you still get more xp overall from having it, even if your intellegence is maxed out. For the possibility of getting 5X xp from a quest (potentially giving you thousands of xp) its worth having at some point for any character.

I have yet to level a character above level 60 though. I just started my fourth character yesterday, I've been restarting to try out different perk builds.

Squirrel stew only boosts xp by 2% not 25.

There is a perk that let you get extra INT at night so do combat and turn in quests at night will help. Doing radiant quests will do.

Cheers,

Unless you are at 9+ int, idiot savant is better than gaining one int from special, the average xp boost after reaching 10 or more in is 2% for the first rank, and ~3% with both, otherwise int provides 3% per level.

Presumably you've finished the main story?

What i do is go on hunting trips.

As an example I'll walk to a particular location on the west of the map. A lodge where raiders hang out.

Try and catch them out of their PA so i can confiscate it and drop it in the river.

Continue SSW and kill all the deathclaws and Behemoth in the area.

Then south to the edge of the glowing sea and a little bit in for radscorpions and other beasts.

Back again to the lodge, cross the river for the tough Mirelurk and more deathclaws a little bit north.

Off to the South East for the Mutant settlement.

A little bit north and clear out the gunners on the overpass.

Back to base and cook the spoils for the next hunting trip in another part of the map.

I usually pass one or two of those locations where random events occur as i travel.

yep I'm keeping my hand in waiting for DLC.

similar to what I do, I see absolutely no reason to go beyond 40ish-50. I guess some folks really like grinding radiants.

You can try the semicheat where you save before completing a mission and then reload as many times as needeed for you to get idiot savant perk to proc. x5 times more xp for that mission.

Takes less than doing the radiant quest 5 times over. And you can drink to lower your int and get more chances for idiot to proc.

I save scum all the time with Idiot Savant. Yeah it's a bit chintzy, but it's a heck of a lot better than grinding radiant quests or random killing sprees IMO. I'm only to the Glowing Sea part of the main quest on my second playthrough and I'm already at level 70 on survival difficulty. Just don't get the 3rd level of Idiot Savant if you decide to go down that path. There's some sort of bug or cooldown mechanic that causes it to not proc correctly. Also the lower your INT, the more it proc's. I intentionally kept my INT at one on this playthrough. With one INT the % of it to proc are around 10-12%, which means that it doesn't take long to gain massive xp through quest turn ins. If you make sure to try to sleep before turning them in, you can gain an extra 10-15% with the Well Rested/Lover's Embrace bonus as well. Also, grab the magazine Live & Love 8 from Hotel Rexford in Goodneighbor. It gives you an additional 5% bonus when traveling with a companion.

If you happen to travel alone, as I do most of the time, try to spread out your romanced companions strategically around the settlements so that you can always have a place close enough to grab a nap and still fast travel and have the bonus. If you know you are going to be turning in several quests at once, Squirrel Stew is also recommended for an extra 2% for 2 hours.

I travel alone too. Companions just get in the way and piss me off. Though I have traveled a lot with Danse and curie for max relationship. I just got idiot savant, works fine even though I got max intelligence.

I think I have that magazine. Have around 50-60 I've just found randomly
