Fallout 3 looks crap on my TV. Why?

I have played Fallout 3 like crazy ages ago on my 360. Looked great on my TV. Now I have a new TV Samsung 60" LED. Before I used a 50" plasma.

Now I have Fallout 3 on my laptop and looks great on my laptop. When I use my HDMI through my TV it doesn't look that great. It almost looks like I was playing on the 360. So how come it doesn't come out good on the TV?

Is there settings I am missing to have the awesome look of my laptop to my TV? Just so disappointed in playing Fallout 3. Skyrim just looks as nice on my TV but Fallout 3 there is a huge difference and was shocked at how not good it looked on TV.

*edit* I see what my problem is, screen settings. I had to put it as 4:3 instead of 17:10. Looks better now, problem is, everything is so big. I guess it's just the same size as on console but I am getting massive vertigo. I can't play since everything seems to be so fast. Guess the better resolution is doing this.

So I guess I can't play on TV then. Just want to make sure, is there any other settings I can try to lessen this vertigo? If I go back to 16:9 or 16:10 I get a squished view. black bars on top and bottom. Is it because it's an old game and I don't get this with Skyrim because it's newer?

You could try to increase the FOV a bit.
