Fallout 3 Machinima - Redemption

Post » Sun Nov 07, 2010 6:08 pm

Hello, Bethesda Forum. Some of you know me, some not, but oh well. I've started a Machinima recently and I have up to 4 episodes currently. Right now I just need some constructive criticizm because I'm new to this kind of thing and need to know how to improve. A side note, I cannot get in-game volume to work so I use ambient music instead of dead silence, which is just lame. ALSO when you go to the link if a box comes up and asks 'open', 'save', or something like 'run', just click open and click the adress bar and hit enter. Warning - Explicit Content :flamed:

These are about 4 mins. a piece and I can make them pretty much 3 per day, since the only real struggle is editing. I will post on the thread when a new episode is released.

I feel really silly now. :P

I just read the links and the paragraph below them. In my defense, the standard thing an author writes for these kind of things is "can you give me some critisicm" and "i really like how this turned out." I just go straight for the links.

It's a little off-putting that it wasn't GECK'd up more, with different angles and [censored], that just makes it look more movie-like.

Unfortunately I can't use the GECK since there are very few things listed on there for reasons unknown and I cannot get mods to freaking work, so I had to use my skills with console commands and editing.

In the first one you put Supet Mutants instead of Super Mutants. It didn't feel very movie like, most certainly need more angles. Couldn't you use a free floating camera? I believe there's a console command for that. I would then try experimenting with those angles. For example you could zoom up on your guy as he's firing his assault rifle, and then have separate footage of the super mutants dying. That would give it more of a movie like feel, instead of a video walk through on Fallout.

Also, I don't know if I was the only one, but I got lost after the second episode, I couldn't figure out what was going on. Another thing is that you often cut out some footage, which is fine, but what ends up happening is that the screen flashes and your guy apparently teleports, if you could make it fade to black, it would make it look much nicer.

That's all I could think of right this moment.

I realized it said that. What do you want me to do, I can't go back and fix it. It was my first attempt and everyone makes mistakes. And also, you can't walk around in tfc. I know there's a free cam but.. And the screen doesn't 'flash' and 'teleoprt'. I can't make it go fade black and go back to normal, not possible for me. I don't know what other Machinima users are using to do that effect or whatever but it isn't possible for me at all.
