fallout 4 marketing idea: Nuka-Cola

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:28 pm

I saw a petition online asking Bethesda to make Nuka-Cola. I think the specifics are a bit unlikely, but the basic idea sounds pretty cool.

What I propose is Bethesda team up with a drink maker, probably Mountain Dew since they like limited, special release drinks, and have them make a Nuka-Cola product.

Yeah, I think if Nuka Cola started getting sold as a legit beverage, the Coca Cola company would have to be behind it. As it stands it's fair use for being a parody, but start selling it as a standalone beverage...

Mountain Dew is apart of PepsiCo

Did you think they were their own company? That's kinda funny.

It's not really that funny, and not everyone cares to or wants to understand corporate structure.

Pepsi owns mountain dew as a parent company, but I don't think they exercise direct control over the brand. Either way, I don't see how that is relevant to my idea.

The Coca-Cola think I think is a non-issue. The first cola products made in the US were all basically locally made in pharmacies. After that there are literally a hundred or so different company trademarks prior to Coca-Cola. That means Bethesda could easily show prior use of cola products before coke.

Cola, sure, but the Nuka Cola brand is a blatant parody of the Coca Cola brand, from the imagery to the catchphrases and even the bottle shape. It flies in a post-nuclear dark comedy because who cares, but they won't like someone using a parody of their brand to sell actual cola.

Wonder how Nuka tastes... didn't some gamer recipe blog post a recipe once?

The trademarked brand would be an issue. The bottle shape is pretty generic though. Also if it was a drink sold under another company the catch phrases would be irrelevant i think since they aren't being used the market the real product.

I guarantee you dozens of ad men across America have pitched this to Bethesda since FO3.

I would like to be able to buy labels that I could affix to regular glass drink bottles. Then it wouldn't be too expensive and I could have however many Nuka-Colas I wanted.

It would have been cool if Bethesda teamed up with the Coca-Cola company & did a limited edition Nuka-Cola promotion for Fallout 4. Maybe save that idea for Fallout 5! Mr Hines.

I agree "ad men" have probably brought this up. My thought process is Fallout 4 probably doesn't NEED advertising like that. Coming from an a marketer it might seem like selling out or a distraction from the quality of the game. Coming from fans it might seem more like something we would actually like.

I agree, but I think Coke would be less likely to agree. They aren't known for temporary drinks. Mountain Dew does this all the time. Dewocracy, gamer fuel, taco bell flavors.

I actually think that is a brilliant idea, and one that would avoid any legal issues. As only a sticker is sold not the actual product.

you mean like this?

I think those were made for Bethesda by the division of Coke that makes novelty drink items.

I wouldn't put it past Bethesda to have refused any such pitches of supplying large quantities to the public solely on the grounds that soda is poison pure and simple.

Coke do limited brands in the UK. Vanilla, lemon, and they do those people name labels to. I think they could get behind the idea of Nuka cola for sure.

Your argument is downright silly. Soda is poison? You can argue that refined sugar is more of a recreational drug than actual food, sure...but it isn't poison. Even then, it is all "food" containing sugar. Cookies, candies, cakes, even most mass produced sauces are just as bad as soda. The problem isn't that soda is "bad". The problem is that people want to pretend like they didn't know that to begin with then blame the manufacturer.

Mexico consumes more coca cola than any other nation in the world next to the us...as a cleaning product.

Right, because one line sayings and youtube video represent factual scientific knowledge in a comprehensive fashion. That is why medical research is so easy and they only have to go to community college.
