Fallout 3 Mod Detectives #4

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:12 am

To avoid future "Is there a mod that..." threads I'm starting our first third Mod Detectives thread here.
Unlike the Oblivion forum we do not have a buddah who collects mod, but instead we should all try to work as a community.

What is this thread?

If you are in need of a mod that you either know and can't remember the name of, or don't know exist you can ask for it here. People then (hopefully) post to inform you if such a mod exist.

Rules

Basic forum rules
No need to post "Hello? anyone know?" five times. Wait at least until the thread has moved on with one page before asking again.
For you who know the Oblivion mod detective thread might have noticed a change here. You can ask for mods you don't know exist.

Just starting a new one...

Now for what I'm looking for...

I saw this screen on the nexus http://fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/1031637-1250416964.jpg and I was curious where the scarf and cape came from...

I know not, but I was wondering if there's a mod for FO3 like "See you sleep" for Oblivion (not sure about the title) that shows the player playing the sleep/get in bed animation when using a bed.

Still looking for an FPS Optimizer for FO3. I saw one, but it required changing the Boot.ini of my computer, and it took memory away from my other functions, so comp went really slow.

Wondering if there was a mod that added a key that would let you "hold your breath" to stay your gun's sway, like in some FPS games.

Anyway, I'm looking for some new Energy weapons. They should be balanced, so no over-the-top god items.

I was looking around at various companion mods, preferably the ones with voice acting. I was wondering: are there any mods that add a tribal companion?

I'm already running Angel and Amata. Any other suggestions?

Anyone know if it might be possible to temporarily modify weapon sway variables when Shift or some other key is pressed, maybe using FOSE or something?

Sadly not... I'm mostly looking for the scarf. Has two long tails attached to it, and looks great.

Still looking for a mod that has a recrutable trader something of that sorts, so I can place a vendor/trader at my custom house (and no, nothing that involves Sharing&Caring Companions).

I've looked all over and I guess I'll have to mod it myself..

Erm, not only is this a singleplayer game but a trader hardly breaks the game anyway.

Looking for a mod that allows you to take companions to point lookout... I thought I found one, but Clover, my only companion, still got fired... I don't mind about the other DLCs, but it makes no sense to have your companions stay home with Point Lookout.

Is there a mod like this that works 100% of the time?

Are there any mods out that that expand on the roleplaying/quests of Fallout 3, beyond the usual suspects? Most of the "essential mod lists" I see don't have a lot present. Ones like, say, Wasteland Whisperer, RobCo Certified, PreWar Book Titles and Perks, Alternate Beginnings, Sharing and Caring Companions, Buyable Slaves/Slaves Stick Around, DCInteriors, T.R.A.S.C.H, etc. Also interested in whether there is a graphical replacer list available someplace yet. Trying to sort them at FO3Nexus is a bit tricky, lots of stuff coming up that I'm not much interested in.

I don't consider that cheating. I mean if I have this cool custom fortress somewhere in the wastelands as home for my character, why wouldn't I hire a trader for there instead of having to travel to Rivet City everytime I get back from some adventure.
But anyhows I'm just gonna mod a hireable trader myself now and release it sometime this week.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5370 adds a nice urban environment. Many of the interiors are reused from vanilla and it's a work in progress, but there aren't any serious bugs. The enemies are primarily native Raiders, though, which gets a bit dull. Maybe I'm just too used to punching out Enclave soldiers with my bare hands and a large group of Raiders just means a lot of meat and a low value to weight ratio on the loot. The quests are cool, though.

Colonel, you might want to try http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2834. it's not a direct solution, but you could put a marker down in the Wasteland, go to the new area, past the firing trigger, and make a mark there. Then you can just pop back and get your companions, depending on whether they can be told to wait or they're brute force fired even then. Depends on whether it's a static firing trigger(i.e. fire on entering the DLC area) or done throughout the DLC area, but it's probably the first.

Point Lookout gets crashy/freezy at some spots if you have a companion with you.

Hi, im new to the Fallout mod community. Been playing Morrowind for years, so I got some knowledge about how this whole mod thing works. I guess things aren't exactly the same. But overall it seems to be quite similar.

First off! Getting the game to look good. Ive been searching for texture replacers. Found some, like the Megaton and Rivet City texture packs. Looks good. But if there is a good looking world texture replacer out there id be glad if someone pointed it out for me.

Edit: And when I write world texture replacers I mean a replacers of nearly all the textures in the game.

No one person has replaced every texture in the world except 4ace (except 4aces are just sharpened, rezed up, and bumpmapped)

Mmm got that though, and was looking for like a metropolitan area like New york etc, which isn't blocked off in each street like Vanilla fallout =/ but thanks! :)

Hi. I was wondering if, like in Oblivion, custom clothes had to be... custom made... to fit Robert's Better Males.
Was wondering if there was hair with fringes for guys (or girls. They can easily be ported)
A neat set of http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_430xN.27592321.jpg?
What about Pip-Boy retexs to make it silver?
Various combat shotguns?

There was one mod I remember featured several sniper rifles. Or suppressors on sniper rifles.
I dunno...

Ideas?
