Fallout Mod Detectives #6

Post » Mon Jan 03, 2011 7:34 am

*Taking a leaf from the previous threads*

To avoid future "Is there a mod that..." threads I'm starting our first Mod Detectives thread here.
Unlike the Oblivion forum we do not have a buddah who collects mod, but instead we should all try to work as a community.

What is this thread?

If you are in need of a mod that you either know and can't remember the name of, or don't know exist you can ask for it here. People then (hopefully) post to inform you if such a mod exist.

Rules

Basic forum rules
No need to post "Hello? anyone know?" five times. Wait at least until the thread has moved on with one page before asking again.
For you who know the Oblivion mod detective thread might have noticed a change here. You can ask for mods you don't know exist.

I thought I heard about it a while ago, but don't know how to find it.

Is there a mod like Streamline for Oblivion that has a save feature like Streamsaving?

Try these and see if its the same? If it is the same result, maybe mess around with the menus?

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3926 for brown leaves on the trees and http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7806 for greens leaves and grass. At least the author of Evergreen says the leaf popping is fixed...

And the rising bullets problem from the last thread is supposed to be fixed by http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5606.

This is not Streamline, but you could call it Streamsave: :-)

Cipscis' Automatic Save Manager, or CASM for short: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3729

While Fractured Nature is exactly what I am looking for, that link seems very dead :(.

I am using Dall's textures with Evergreen autumn and it looks ok, but I'd love to see what Fractured is about. It seems to be authored by the same person who did Evergreen.

I'm looking for some mods that make power armor unique without using things like add carry weight. Things like the coyote reflex power armor.

What I'm looking for I guess you can't really call it a mod, per-say... but is there an application out there that would allow me to import creatures of my own design and test the list of attack animations and poses?

Hello All, I was wondering if there were any other mods out that are like Megaton Outskirts? I find smaller mods such as that interesting. Also, I am kind of confused as to what FOSE actually does. Helps to merge other large overhaul mods together, or groups many smaller mods into on larger one? If the latter is the case, can you pick and choose which smaller mods you would like active? Are there also any other unique random wondering monsters mods out there aside from MMM, D6 wasteland boss pack, and MTC wasteland wanderer mods?

Thanks in advanced, and this thread is amazing, found some interesting resources reading through the past 5.

FOSE does neither; it extends the scripting language used by mods so they can do more.

You may mean FOIP which provides compatibility patches so those few mods can be used together without conflicting.

I can only find http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2808, which is basically like a Dart Gun. I also heard a stalker weapon mod might have a modern one, but not sure if its true.

I'm using http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10100. I really like how things become somewhat overgrown. I've lost my way many times because the paths and roads I used to take are no longer there. There are only a couple of photos on the page so here's two I snapped earlier:

I think you've got me with this one. I am going to try it out and pray that the leaves don't pop around like some of the more popular mods :P. But those screenshots look beautiful and I love the overgrown feeling. I know everyone assumes the wasteland should be barren desert, but nature is much too powerful for that. Mount St. Helens razed forest to the rock yet thirty years later it's very lush forest. The radiation from Cherynobl killed forests in Pripyat but again, twenty years later it's a very beautiful forest.

Argh...while this mod is absolutely beautiful when standing still, the new trees still suffer from popping syndrome. I wish I knew what caused that :(.

if theirs consolation I'm working on making a 1handed repeater crossbow http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/83412/FO3%20Construction/Nifskope-RepeatingCrossbow.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h272/83412/FO3%20Construction/crossbow.jpg
Once I figure all of him out I'll be working on a 2handed single shot version that'll have stronger attack and scope...

Ehh, Blender and/or NifSkope?

Blender I know I could get it to pose..... and Nifskope will play the Transform controllers.... This may sound stupid.... but I was looking, if its out there, something thats kinda like
WoW Model Viewer.... be able to import and or random npc, that would have the ability to choose different animations or poses, from it walking to various attacks being unarmed to
2handlauncher.... to be able to notice clipping with models and creatures that I'm still developing....

I know I can place the items and preview them, but to my knowledge I can't animate them.... I have some incomplete creatures I'm developing aswell and I'd like to be able to preview their clipping if any... I find it distracting and let alone I can't pause and freeze each frame of animation in game, let alone time consuming going in and out of the game to fix every mistake I catch...

if using blender, what you can do is import the skeleton of the creatures you wish, and click on the "Import Animation" then select the .Kf file, then attach your creature to the skeleton. i assume your custom creatures are weight painted to a skeleton that is compatible with already existing animations? im not sure how much you know about 3D and animations n stuff tho. (i'm kind of imagining that "WoW model viewer" as a more simple program. example, you load the NPC, then it has a list of animations that the game has that you can click on?... if so this is far more complicated ;) )

you can also import animations in NiF Skope, but i havent done that very much, so i couldnt tell much about it...

Civ IV uses nif and kf files and the civfanatics forum is said to know of a viewer. You might ask them. http://forums.civfanatics.com

Is there a mod that lets you gain karma for reverse stealing? IE: putting a can of beans in Silver's fridge, or reverse PP a slab of Brahmin Steak. I'd like to give back to the Wasteland. :P

Is there something along the lines of Oblivions 'custom race fix' for Fallout 3?

I've noticed if I have a char with a custom race, Broken Steel's intro cutscene and .bik freak out and I can't advance.
