Has anyone ever tackled making the majority of skillbook locations randomized?

Something similar to Random Bobbleheads?
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6395

I suspect that the few hundred skillbook locations makes this a very difficult task.

And I'm also interested in knowing whether there is a mod that would let me take notes, or create a checklist, or something to remind me to go back to a certain location.

SteveDog mentioned reworking the skill books in an upcoming version of Savage Wasteland. I think he is planning to keep the skillbooks in the same spot but whether or not they spawn depends on your Luck. I can't find anything that randomizes their location.

There's no journal/note mod yet. It's a frequent request but it hasn't been tackled.

Anything that cleans up the "DNA projector" screen so you can see more clearly when creating a character?

Since there is nothing akin to Oblivion/Morrowind Graphics Extender for F3 yet - or a thread about anything like that.

I thought I'd just post this very interesting preview for http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11434 click on the you tube video to go to you tube and watch it in 1080.

I really hope this one sees the light of day.

sorry a bit off topic - giving a mod that is not done or asked for.

Some of the effects are pretty "over the top" (fire distortion, missile launch, some of the explosions) and the screen effects look completely absurd in third person...but the techniques are incredible and the performance he's getting is very impressive.

Are there any FWE compatible mods that make perks available only every two or three levels?

Yeah!! Free Advertising!! :celebration:

This is still very much in the works but the basic idea right now is for any place where you would find a repair skill book the script will roll a random number against your Luck stat, the higher your luck the better chance you have of finding the skill book, if you bee line to every possible location for the repair books and only find, lets just say 10; does this mean you have lost those other 15 books forever? No! I'm including all skill books (possibly bobbleheads as well) with the Random Junk section of Savage Wasteland. If you go to a known location to find a wrench, based on your luck it may or may not be there. It also may or may not be a wrench - it could be a hammer or glue or possibly even a repair skill book.

Anybody ever come across a mod that allows you to say goodbye to the wandering wasteland ghouls (random encounter) without being a jerk about it?

"I don't have time to deal with this."

For God's sake, they're giving you information you can use, not telling you football scores or something.

I don't know if it covers that specific dialogue but the only mod I know of that does something like that is

Forgot to say thanks. Haven't had a chance to look through that yet, but I'll check it out.

Now I'm wondering if anyone has done a mod where you get a red flash on screen based on the side you're taking damage from? Common in a lot of FPS style games, it would be useful since I have my compass and tracers turned completely off. That Sam Warrick XXXX with the sniper rifle (random encounter) killed me twice the other day because I couldn't tell where I was being hit from or even what side of my body was taking the damage.

Open the pipboy, look at the stats and see what side of your body is taking more damage? Left leg or arm or right leg or arm. Failing that get a companion and see where they run off to when you are attacked. Dunno bout mods that'll do what you want though.

It would be illegal.

It is not that playing the songs of one game on another is illegal.
The problem is when modders make the content of one game available for use on another game with the mod.
If I own both games, nothing prevents me from using the assets of one game on the other.
Example:
I have both Oblivion and Fallout 3. I made a mod in which I use Oblivion's weapons racks in Fallout 3.
If I make my mod available to the community, and include in it the mesh for the weapons rack, then that's a no-no.

Has anyone ever tackled making the majority of skillbook locations randomized?

(answers his own question)

Since Savage Wasteland hasn't finished it yet... I'm busily working on my own version of "Randomized Skillbooks". Turns out it's not as bad as I originally thought, since I can tie into OnLoad and keep things rather simplistic. Basically I'm dropping in additional spawn points for all books, then as you enter cells, I disable books that fail a random roll based on your Luck. Everything is scaled so that you'll see 16-22 copies of each book, on average, if the RNG plays nicely.

Still laying out new spawn points in the wastelands, then I have to tackle the metros and downtown locations. But I might do a beta release this coming weekend. All the concept work is done, it's just a matter of adding more spawn points to lots and lots of cells so that the chance of seeing a book is down around 40% instead of 90%. Anything below 50% should make it random enough to be enjoyable, so that finding a book is a nice surprise but not guaranteed.

Everything in that picture is from a mod, whic part do you mean?

The race is Burmecian race, you can find it from Nexus (it's marked for advlt content, so you need to have an account). The suit and gun, no clue. The Backpack is from http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2553k.

I've been looking for a mod which allows for multiple weapons to be holstered at once on the PC. I've seen lots of pics with multiple holstered weapons but i've never been able to find it.

Is there a mod that gets rid of all the useless junk like tin cans and books? I'm looking to increase fps since I'm playing on a low end but decent laptop.

I already have http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13520, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11146 and http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11116. I know seems like enough mods as it is but I feel like theres more that could have been removed but weren't.

Any other performance enhancing mods are appreciated as well.

Is there a mod that makes big guns always stay out? I hate dissapearing guns!

I'm looking for a mod that makes any NPC or the character always keep their gun out if they are using gun that "disappears" when holstered. I hate that the biggest guns in the game just disappear when you put them away.

Does such a thing exist?
