Fallout Mod Detectives #9

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1097295-fallout-mod-detectives-8/

*Taking a leaf from previous threads*

To avoid future "Is there a mod that..." threads I'm starting our first Mod Detectives thread here.
Unlike the Oblivion forum we do not have a buddah who collects mod, but instead we should all try to work as a community.

What is this thread?

If you are in need of a mod that you either know and can't remember the name of, or don't know exists you can ask for it here. People then (hopefully) will post to inform you if such a mod exists.

Rules

Basic forum rules
No need to post "Hello? anyone know?" five times. Wait at least until the thread has moved on with one page before asking again.
For you who know the Oblivion mod detective thread might have noticed a change here. You can ask for mods you don't know exist.

ghoulsrpeople2, "Tenpenny Ghouls At Peace" is the mod that didn't work for a friend of mine - and according to the comments, he is not the only one. But if it worked for you, well, maybe I should give it a try and "fast forward" a year to see how it plays out.

Is there a mod that makes it so that if you kill a non-hostile animal you get negative karma?

I found this mod on Nexus recently as it was on the New Release list...

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14719

It says there are other such mods that allow easy placement of Havok'd items... what/where are they? I tried "placement" in the search, and I got all "Replacement" items.

Maybe the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11532 mod is what you're after?

That mod looks to do the trick... except it's not working. I activate Feng Shui mode, mouse over a windup protectron toy from DCInteriors that is highlighted blue, hit the grab key, and it doesn't turn yellow. Num lock is on (it didn't work when off either), I've set the vanilla controls to default, and I've disabled http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14624 in case that was causing interference.

EDIT: Okay, figured it out.

What's that mod that adds the camouflage grass suit seen in a few pics in the "Pictures of Fallout Characters" thread?

Hard to say without a picture but I'm guessing you mean a Ghillie Suit? There's one in http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10228.

Is there a mod that makes all locks pickable? Ideally, I think, I'd like to see all the key-only locks set to Very Hard. Immediately, I'm interested in getting potential access to *spoiler*
Spoiler
The locked area in Hamilton's Hideaway. I'm using Arwen's mod, so I need any skill points I can get, and missing out on the skill book in that area is really nagging at me.

Thanks.

AFAIK there's no music in FWE.

I think key-only locks may be hard-coded. An automated picking mod could force it open, but that could lead to quest bugs if you get access to areas prematurely.

Bummer. So I don't want to force any locks open. That's why I would have preferred to have the locks set to Very Hard, so that it guarantees I'm nearly complete with the game before I can open those locks without a key (playing with Arwen's mod, I don't foresee being able to open Very Hard locks until the early 20s.

I want to say that I started playing Fallout 3 soon after it was launched, but I disliked the depressive atmosphere, so I didn't played it and continued with Oblivion.

After I while I gave Fallout 3 another shot with mods this time. The result was that it was a lot more fun but still I got depressed seeing all that ruined society, so after a few weeks I left the install alone.

Its been half a year since I last played Fallout 3 because of this and I want to ask if there is at least a mod that adds a lively society, that develops and seems to move out of the apocalypse and toward rebuilding the society and take a path to a better life? Maybe that would have some green plants in it, and different building textures? :) . I am very tired of the depressive colors.

I suspect you're thinking of another game, maybe one a little less post-apocalyptic? :fallout:

Anyway, you might try the various settlement expansion mods (search the Nexus), http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10222, and maybe faction mods like my http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1022715-relz-reillys-rangers-expanded/page__view__findpost__p__14799894__fromsearch__1.
It's still going to be pretty depressive though...

For a few more plants you could try http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2456, or http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14340. I'm sure there are more that I've missed.

In addition to Tubal's recommendations, you might be interested in http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13371 for fresh building textures. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14362 changes the parking lot of the Robot Repair Center into a lively car show/campground with a clubhouse. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14205 turns Big Town into more interesting place to visit with a merchant and player home. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11035 will add more life to settlements. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11710 adds a pretty little park around the bomb.

Is there something similar to http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6044, because this mod is not working together with the latest version of FWE. MTC Wasteland Travellers V2 seems to deactivate the Fast Travel possibilities (Both normal fast travel and Motorcycle fast travel) when installed together with FWE. But without MTC Wasteland Travellers V2, the Wasteland seems to be a little empty. I am aware of Crowded Cities, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for.

Personally, I've used FWE and MTC together without issue. Fast travel being disabled comes from the escort missions with MTC. If one of the travelers you are escorting wanders off before making it to their destination without dying, fast travel will remain disabled. You should be able to enable fast travel again by either using the console command enablefasttravel 1 or clean-saving MTC out of your game.

As far as other mods which add life to the wasteland, there's http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6025

OH thank you very much :tops: , this is exactly what happened. Now I understand, why fast travel didn't worked. I will reinstall MTC right away. :foodndrink:

Anyone know of a mod that makes the BOS, Lyons' pride, appear to help you in Chevy Chase (GNR), even if you found information about Dad (vault 12, Rivet City etc.) before you get to the area?

I sure can't find any. :banghead:

All key only doors would have to be edited, but it is most certainly possible. You just can't unlock them anymore with they key. One could however, add a script that unlocks the door when you get the key. So, it could be made, I guess.
